FFA Rapid Leaderboard history

Hello everyone, Caleb did a wonderful job covering the history of the 4pc championships.
I've been updating this list for months myself, but now is easier to miss something due to rating inflation... but who cares? People is playing a lot, admins don't try to troll and keep everything like this.
These are the players who crossed 3000, I think they are quite in order.
I would like to give more details about the past but i haven't been there.
First player reaching 3000 and 3100 was Cha_ChaRealSmooth.
3200 was a close race between me and Hest, and for now I'm the only one over 3300

someone should make an ffa hyper leaderboard and we'll see just how many 3200+ players there were

Thank you for all your work on this and for keeping track!

Will add a little on related things

Number ones I think I recall (I'm sure there were more, but I don't remember, unfortunately, in vaguely chronological order)

pre-August 6th, that is pre-archive, I believe a1t19, Wraku89, and RupestreMind, Behemont, DragonB70 were number one at one point and weren't cheating. I don't know about anyone else

post-August 6th, 2018 @hest1805 @vitoria-gastiez @reasons @neoserbian ?carlos? @romison @your_master_is_here @YalinTala @Jonasrath @Cha_charealsmooth @fourplayerchess @Eyeofthetiger1204 @smiralex ?@Arseny_Vasily? @rojitto @radon @jbolea @HSCCCalebBrown

By far the person with the most time at #1 is rojitto

#2 probably cha

#3 eye

#4 radon?

#5 hest?

I don't believe anyone else has had a huge run.

I hope, in theory, since we have the archive (and thereby ratings, and also time controls), the leaderboards could be recreated at some point.

Anyway, again, thank you rojitto for keeping track of all this!

Are we forgetting Luis?

Avatar of JkCheeseChess

I meant in the second part, didn't he hold #1 or #2 for a longer period of time? or am i tripping

I guess #4 makes sense

also lets not forget he had 3000 in 6 different categories and was the first person to cross...I believe it was 2400? in all categories

I trust that at least IM DragonB70 (who joked in chat afterward that he’d retire) and behemont got it in 2017 without cheating. Behemont got #1 while denying me a top 10 spot in 2017. Also I think a1t19 may have been the first ever to cross 2000.

post-August 6th, 2018”

some e4b4c4 guy got it on January 12, 2020: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=HktAnKfogNc&t=1140s

Edit: Thanks Caleb for the edits!

A rambling of how I remember it vaguely playing out. Before August 6th and post-March, when I first started, the two players who were far ahead of everyone else who weren't cheating were a1t19 and Wraku89. I believe Wraku89 (and a1t19 [Luke says first]) got up to 2000, back when a good rating was 1700. I remember watching 1700+ players like Hest, Neo, Justin, and Fifth.

August 6th came around, and with it the archive, and the leaderboard become much more relevant because you couldn't cheat as much anymore. So in the later part of 2018 and early part of 2019, before opposite teaming really came into its own, Hest1805 dominated for this time; the only player who matched him for a time I felt was @vitoria-gasteiz, who unfortunately didn't play for too long. Jonasrath is another player who was number one for a little while (I remember because he kept me off the top spot lol) but Henrick was the person to beat back then.

Eventually, Hest quit playing as much, and FFA (and rating systems) changed to a more team-centric style. In the latter part of 2019 and in 2020, as I recall, Chacha was the one who dominated. Similar to Hest and Vitoria, Cha was not left alone; there was eyeofthetiger who kept pace with him at times. The other player I remember from that time is smiralex who climbed their way to number one and soon disappeared.

But there was this and that, strategy and rating system changes, cha and eye played less, and eventually rojitto in 2021 or 2022 (can't remember) rose to the top spot. The only player who seemed to keep pace with him for a while was radon. Eventually, Radon stopped playing regularly, about the time of the merge I think, and then it was all over, as far as the first spot is concerned. rojitto has kept the top spot for about a year and a half, I think, and nobody has even gotten close.

Changed it, eye probably had number one longer than radon. I don't think he kept the top ffa rapid spot longer than cha_cha did, though.

I was number one a few times but only for a few days at a time - maybe 5-6 days in total! :) But, hey, enough for telling the story to the grandkids!

I wanted to brag about something else - I think I am the record holder (or at least among the first two or three) for the number of days spent in the top 20 - in total and continuously!

I discovered this game in the summer of 2018 and around October, November 2018 I was in the top 20 for the first time. From then until a month ago (and Luke's famous 10 min Arena) I was continuously in the top 20 on the Leaderboard! Honestly, I can't remember any time when I was ranked lower. (here, of course, I am counting the Solo Leaderboard before the merge, although I was also close on the FFA Leaderboard, but I didn't even want to play those 4pc children's variants :) )

( I think I'm the only one who had a higher SOLO rating than FFA before the merge )

There are two reasons why I think I hold this record: the first is that many good players don't play anymore or the current good players simply started playing after me.

Another reason is that many good players are not constant - for various reasons (obligations, boycott, poor form, or something else) and, regardless of the fact that they are in the top 20 by rating, they simply do not play regularly.

So we come to what I am particularly proud of and why this record is important to me - I have been constant for more than 4 and a half years, with the same love for this game and, even when most have stopped playing for various reasons, I was there and played! Sometimes, especially during the summer and outside the championship, there are almost none of the top players, so I was forced to play with beginners. So now I'm glad to see that almost all the best are back on the Leaderboard and playing as much as they can. There are still very few 2800+ or 2900+ games but it's better than just two months ago.

Of course, some will immediately say that it's because I'm bored in my life happy.png...it's not, far from it, I just always find time to play at least two games in two weeks minimum.

A very important reason why consistency is something to be proud of is because the top players are responsible for the growth and development of this game - if it wasn't for Hest and other great players at the time who played regularly every night I would never have become that. which i am. From whom will the current beginners learn how to play this game properly if the official world champions don't play, if the top players, the legends of this game, only play before the championship and that's all!?! I still claim that only 30-40 players know how to play this game properly. And that's precisely because beginers were taught to play it through the FFA rating system and from the wrong role models! Personally, I would ban anyone who doesn't play at least 2 games every two weeks from participating in the championship qualifiers.

I apologize for the long post. I hope that at least someone agrees with me that older, famous players, especially legends of this game, have an obligation to play more often and thus promote this game that we all, I hope, love.

@neoserbian: I had a 400 point higher solo than ffa rating wink.png.

Since I am also more old school than I want to admit, I was also ranked 1st in ffa way back (yes hard to believe I know, and there were many others left out too).

Avatar of JkCheeseChess

yes we forgot valger

Avatar of JkCheeseChess

also my solo rating before the merge was 1700 and ffa was 1600 so i guess that counts

valger and icy both got to like 3700 teams and valger got to 3850 lol

i know reza also got 3k at some point but thats about all i can remember

Reza >3100 old elo (3400 new)

Valger >3550 old elo (3850 new)

Icy > 3003 old elo (3303 new)

A number of old elos exceeded 2700 but only three old elos exceeded 3000 in the teams category without the sandbagging teammates.
