It doesn't say anything about the wizard being able to jump 2 squares forward, only diagonally. 8... Wj7 is an illegal move.
I did the exagerated knight move: one file over (to j) and three ranks forward (to 7). In fact, if you go to the official site's opening page (http://www.omegachess.com/home.html?action=openings), and scroll down to "Wizard's Mate," they show the equivalent move being made by white (Wa3).
