First Post!
Good idea Josiah, thanks for taking the initiative here. Talking about meetings, this will be an interesting discussion as many of our new online members will not be able to actually join our campus meetings and lectures. I'm thinking that once Peter Webster (USCF Life Master) comes to speak, I will ask him to allow us to video record his lectures and allow us to create a streaming video so that our online members can watch the presentations. I'm thinking that since Peter lectures at UW-Whitewater for free, he won't mind, especially if we pay him. Also, does anybody who doesn't come to our campus want to see our minutes to our past meetings? They aren't very exciting, but it's possible. Or maybe I could post them on our UW-Rock website too. They could be posted in pdf or Microsoft Word (any preference?). -- Unfortunately, many of our resources (more than 40 instructional DVDs and our DGT Board) won't be available to our online friends unless they come to our campus. Do others have ideas how we can make our club more accessable to our online friends?
The only thing I can come up with is to use the forums and hold frequent tournaments. We can post what we thought about a certain book, what we think of a certain opening, etc. Anything to really keep the forums alive. It doesn't even have to be about chess, mind you.
Also, do we have any photographs of our last tournament we held on campus?

Hello Rock Rooks! Wish I could attend your meetings, but they are at the same time as Altered Reality's, and it might be considered bad form if the President of AR were to skip in order to attend another club's meeting
. Thought I would let you guys know that Altered Reality is planning some Game Days both on and off campus (dates yet to be determined). Basically it is just an excuse to geek out and play various games such as Risk (our club has the Godstorm and 2210 versions), Munchkin (very amusing card game) and of course Chess.
Thanks Neil. We're talking about starting another tournament, but this whole time protection thing is delaying our games. We're also talking about having Nick French (Professor Freedom) do a lecture on chess openings and maybe doing an Friday tournament in the library.
Hello,
I flicked through Nick French's game before 2nd tournament, and he looked to have good knowledge of 1.e4 e5 openings so lecture should be good.
If want help annotating games I like doing this. Also get regular lessons from Yelena Dembo, so chould show problems to hard for me to her.
Have moved back to England for new job in last few days, so won't be on chess com so often for a while, but will check whats going on every now and again.
If you need help, please contact our Help and Support team.
Greetings!
I'm seeing new members from around the world join our club. And because we all can't exactly hold face-to-face meetings with each other, I thought I would take the initiative and make the first post and try to get the forums active. Although, I'm not exactly sure what to talk about. Any ideas?
