Hello Rock Rooks, Hello Rock Rooks, Since my browser got crazy and erased my first attempt of a post on this matter... I'm re-writing it from scratch. I can't deny I'm happy for my first place on this tournament (my first ever Nº1 place in chess.com), but truth be told, I had a lot of fun despite the final outcome and played many interesting games. I was greatly surprised by some of you in several different ways. And I've found that you've put me just 1 move away from defeat or draw more often than you'd know. For that reason and to honor this good games, I would like to go over a few of them and offer you my imprecise, one-sided human analysis. You will probably find better pointers with an engine; but I just feel like sharing the thoughts that went through my still smoking mind while they are fresh. Just so you know, I chose those games where I have something particular to say; not like they are the only interesting or relevant ones... so don't feel left behind if there's no analysis of one of your games. Anyway, here we go: By move 7 or 8 I'd say white was better. If there's something to learn from this game is that in gambits and other tactical games, TIMING is the one thing that makes the difference. There where probably just 2 bad moves by Nick (h3 and Bf3, but unfortunately that was enough) I should get this one through an engine for a better analysis, to really check wether blacks knight sacrifice was sound or not. One way or the other I believe it was a great game by black and got me pretty nervous. The game above was a very hard fought one. If you had to guess the rating difference I believe you wouldn't get even close. This is a typicall game where someone (me) underestimates the other player and plays expecting a certain response that isn't the best. Simply don't. Allways play as if you had Bobby Fischer in the other side... specially because everyone gets their "Bobby day" once in a while and that could be your opponent. I have to admit that I knew for sure that my queen sac would probably lead to a draw, but it was still a usefull outcome for me so I didn't care to play it. Well... I'll keep adding more games so stay tuned. I have to sbubmit this now or risk loosing the post again. Of course your insights are highly wellcome!

Hello great Rock Rook people, Now that my games are over in our tournament I'd like to apologize for the auto-vacation time extend some of you had to endure during your games with me. I really didn't mean to use this feature as an advantage to gain extra thinking time, or anything like that. I simply am a bit overwhelmed with changes in my life and had a hard time logging in. Being as it is, none of you complained or said anything about it and I respect your patience; so thanks again. I'll try to manage my time better not to take moves beyond the stated time control. See you arround!
As some of you know, we ordered a game table for the chess club to put in the library.  Unfortunately, it was damaged in the delivery.  So they sent us a replacement.  It too, was damaged.  So we were credited $187.77 for the table and we can use the money anytime now.  Does anybody have suggestions on what to spend the money on?  I don’t believe we can buy memberships to chess.com with the money, and it would be nice to somehow include our new online friends in our chess.com club.  So if anybody has any ideas on what to buy for the club, please let me know or just post them here.

Greetings! I'm seeing new members from around the world join our club. And because we all can't exactly hold face-to-face meetings with each other, I thought I would take the initiative and make the first post and try to get the forums active. Although, I'm not exactly sure what to talk about. Any ideas?
Greetings Rock Rooks.  I wanted to let everybody know that we are about 70-percent finished with our first tournament.  I've already had a request or two about hosting another tournament for our club.  I'm hoping that some of our new friends will join in on that one since there are several members who have joined who aren't native to our campus.  And I've sent out a few invitations for others to join our club to the friendly people I've met in the last few weeks.  So, I just wanted to let everybody know that in the next few weeks, once our tournament is finished, I'll be sending out invitations to our next tournament.  Again, to participate, you have to be a member of Rock Rooks (which is open to anyone interested).  They just have to let me know they're interested and actually join our group.  Sound good?
