Game over. oinquarki won.

This chess variant was invented by ichabod801. The rules for the game can be found in his blogpost. The symbol for the Amazon is two spears crossing to make an X.

Post your move using algebraic notation. The first post (this one) will have a move list and a picture of the board. Every time I see a new post, I will update the picture of the board and turn it so that the side who's turn it is comes up in front. Make sure you track this topic so that you know when it is your move. As soon as you join the game post something so that I know. The game will begin as soon as we have 2 people ready to go. Have fun!Smile

I will play!

conditional moves:

if: somebody is willing to play against me

then: 1. e4!

I'll check back tomorrow; if nobody takes you on by then...

I would also like to play, but I don't want to keep son of pushwood from playing. How about this: I'll play this game, and oinquarki can start a second game for son of pushwood. If no one is willing to play son of pushwood in a couple days, I'll play him too.

Here's the second game:

Also: The notation for upgrades would be something like N@e5=H, right?

(the @ is needed in order to avoid confusion with upgrading a pawn that's on the 7th rank.)

2. ... e5

The notation is a little confusing. Does N@e5=H mean you are using a knight to upgrade the bishop at e5 to a hawk, or does it mean you are using a bishop to upgrade the knight at e5 to a hawk? My intuition is that it means the former, since N@e5 is the usual notation for dropping a knight. Would N@Be5=H be clearer?

2. Nf3

Yeah. You're right about the notation because I had actually intended to describe a knight(N) at(@) e5(e5) becoming(=) a hawk(H).

All right, this is totally messed up. We need to go back up a move:

1. e4 e5

2. Nf3 Nf6

3. Nc3 Bb4

4. Nxe5 Bxc3

It's your move, move a white piece.
