Earlier this morning, I played quite a few games against a fellow who absolutely insisted on playing the From Gambit vs. my Bird. Now, I like to return the pawn with 3. e6 to kind of curb Black's aggressive development. I dropped a pawn in quite a few situations here...but he slipped and eventually I was able to garner the full point in each game. All throughout our little match, I exclusively played the Bird as White and the French Defense as Black (except for one game where I used the Caro-Kann.)
The time controls were 18 minutes, no bonus time.
