Frustration with learning curve

Hi,

I need some help regarding how to become a better player. I have been doing my tactics everyday and getting better at it, but my playing is just horrible. Im doing ok in daily but I'm not improving in rapid or blitz. I have been taking lessons for couple of months but I'm still stuck at the same level. When I look back at my games, there is two things that strikes me: First, how much I don't understand my opponent strategy and moves and second, my inability to coordinate my pieces after the opening.

Thank you for your inputs and comments

i think at your level, just improving your board awareness can help a lot. EVERY TIME before you make a move, scan the WHOLE board to make sure it is safe. will this move hang a piece? are there any big threats my opponent has? then, you should see if there are any tactics you have. checks, captures, and attacks, as levy says. if you don't see any, then finally, make sure that the move you play actually does something to improve your position. try not to make random moves that do absolutely nothing.

Also know that improvement at chess isn't constant, it comes in leaps and bounds. You may see a jump in rating a month from now due to your training, but maybe it'll take longer to have an effect.

Sometimes, even if I know what my opponent is going to play, I play a dumb move automatically. Other times, I feel like I see everything. It becomes easier with experience to figure out what to do after the opening. And be sure to review your games afterwards, to find common tactical patterns and/or positional ideas.

Thanks everyone for your comments and pointers. I agree that I need to be more disciplined when assessing the board and also I need to work on my time management. Between the games I played and the advices I received or read, joining this club has been one of my best chess decision I made.
