I wouldn't say winning but advantage. It is not an instant win and white can lose
Gambits and Commanding the centre

I am in both Gambit Gang and Central Command. Yes, a good idea to belong to both groups. I remember playing the Pirc Defense once and thinking, "I've got to find a pawn sacrifice that works here". Since White does have central command in the Pirc lines Black can become very cramped, having his king knight driven back to the first or second rank.
The Great thing about Gambits is that they mostly relieve the opposition's command of the all-important centre. As the side with the centre is the side with the advantage, I think that the Queen's Gambit is a decent example. (Please look at the variations)
I think that for controlling the centre a great group to join would be Central Command. As a group we discuss ways to get the centre whether it be through an unknown variation or a main line. We are also active on the "Classical vs Hypermodern" debate.
