That is not necessarily a draw. Example:

1.d6

1...Ka7, Pass

Note: You pass when you don't have a legal move.

2.Pass, d7

Note, since black passed on his second move, white does not have a color he is required to move to and will therefor skip the first move. The second move can be to whatever color white wants.

2...Ka6, Pass

3.Pass, Kxa6. White wins.

There are no stalemates, since you pass when you don't have a legal move.

TheBestIn3Check

Other example:

1.d6

1...Pass, Kb7

2.Ka6 d7

2...Pass, Kxa6 Black wins

TheBestIn3Check

you can pass and then move to any square

TheBestIn3Check

TheBestIn3Check

If you can make a move, you must make a move. If you can't make a move, then you pass. This applies to both the first and second move during your turn.

If you pass on the first move, the second move can be to any square, yes.

TheBestIn3Check

ok

TheBestIn3Check

so any more example that shows strange things?

Martin0

I don't have any more examples right now, since those showed what I wanted to highlight. I will say though that I think this variant should have an extremely low % of draws. Even king vs king endgames are usually not drawn. In those endgames, the player with the initiative (the player who forces which color the opponent must move to) will win a lot of the time.

Are there variants of color chess? Like 3 check in color chess.

A king can capture a king in the right circumstances, so a king vs a king and a pawn would end very quickly (for example by setting up a line of checked squares with the promoted pawn, then moving to a colour with their king that forces them into check. Once they've moved, they have no way of moving again that turn)

I added the missing move rules to the first post.

Existing Chess variants can have the coloured mechanic incorporated; sometimes they need a tweak or two like for bughouse, but often they just work.

We've collected a few examples here: https://www.dogearedgames.com/colourchess/variations/
