I feel pretty proud of this game. Everyone seems to have their own chess style, whether pragmatic or precise, tactical or positional. . . or somewhere in the middle. I love games where I am not necessarily up material but Gene (the engine) says I'm up +3. I like games that build over time, resulting in my opponent eventually making a mistake. ![]()

@cegalleta Great games, Carlos! You mentioned you took a break. Did you do anything chess-related during such a break from playing? If so, what did you do?
Making the best of a bad situation. This Daily game awarded me the third ever brilliant move of my chess career (The first two were both Damianos). The best move was in fact to ignore the skewer and trade down to two rooks versus a queen.

I only brainrotted playing tons of bullet and blitz during the long waits at foreign airports (I was travelling). Spamming game after game while sleep deprived hahahaha, but not much else. For most of the summer I was really inactive and just playing casually every couple of days
Im trying to play safe sound moves after considering what is the possible intention of my opponents last move. Along with that playing games not late in the evening (which is often when I get some down time) and pleased with how this one turned out
After taking a break due to illness, I'm slowly starting to feel like I'm getting back to form and just had this attacking miniature with a rather enjoyable checkmate to finish.

Beautiful game, bro. I didn't analyze it beyond a quick click through your moves, but very disciplined chess. Develop, don't hang pieces, move with purpose, capitalize on blunders. Well done.

Thank you for taking time to comment. It does feel good when things flow well in a game.
After some recent bad results OTB (very good play from my opponents to be fair but still disappointing, not analysed these yet either so still in the back of my mind) it's nice to have a game that reminds me that I do actually know how to play, with a complete game from start to checkmate.
- Knew the opening well
- Played the early middlegame ideas correctly (b3 followed by a4 if allowed) to open up the a file.
- Moved pieces to active squares with lots of tempo
- Found a nice tactic for a quick checkmate to finish.
That was definitely a wild ride!

2…Nf6 not met by 3.cxd5 is wild.
