Giga Dog Tournament - Losers Bracket Final - @Marks1420 vs @captaintugwash
Flagged.
This is completely resignable anyway. After the next passage of play, if you're accurate I think you're a whole bishop down.
The immediate threat is Rxe1+, a crushing discovery. You obviously have to respond to this threat.
Best for you here I think is 30. Kb1 Rxf3 31. b3 Rxe1 32. Qxe1 Nd2+ 33. Kb2 Ne4... I win both bishops for a rook, and my knight and rook escape. Given I'm already up the exchange, that's a whole bishop.
31. Qxf3 is out of the question, 31... Rxe1+ 32. Rxe1 Nd2+ wins queen.
30. Wd2 Rxf3 31. Qxf3 Rxe1+ 32. Rxe1 Qxd2+ 33. Kb1 Qxe1+ and I'm up a bishop and witch.
30. Bd2 Nxd2 31. Qxd2 (or Kxd2) Rxf3 and I'm up a rook.
"30. Kb1 Rxf3 31. b3 Rxe1 32. Qxe1 Nd2+ 33. Kb2 Ne4... "
Oh and if in this line you try 32. Rxe1 then 32... Nd2+ 33. Kb2 Bxg3 and you're falling apart.
Unfortunate I couldn't let you play out your nice tactic, I agree it was a lost position. Pressed for time these days. Withstanding my blunder, you played really good, well played!
Thanks, your early blunder was pretty unfortunate, you really can't afford to give me the exchange so early without compensation. Nf2 was pretty bad too, this allowed Re3, and Nh3 just allows me to execute the Qj8 x-ray, but these kind of blunders are really easy to make when your position is so bad, when your pieces block each other.
btw, I think 29... Qj8 is optimal, rather than the immediate Rxf3.
29... Rxf3 30. Qxf3 Qj8+ 31. We3!
That We3 resource means you're just the witch down, which is preferable to a bishop. Still not good for you, but it's certainly going to be harder for me to win. But with my rook on e3 you don't have We3 so you have to play 30. Kb1 to escape the x-ray. I nearly missed We3.
Cheers for the game, gg.
