On Sunday nights I watch Anthony Bourdain, Parts Unknown on TV, channel CNN.

The show is about different cultures around the world. It is a great show. Since Bourdain was a professional chef earlier in life, the show emphasizes food, but it also touches on music and politics and whatever.

Have any of you ever watched it? And I must admit, one reason it is interesting is because the host, Anthony Bourdain, is my age. He is very intellectual.

I find it difficult to see the "intellectual" part. Wink

So have you watched it? I think it is great.

When he asks them about their political situation, he always seems to get right to the heart of the matter. And when he talks about the beautiful countryside or their music he always seems to see the subtle sensitive parts.

I saw him report from Iran; Cuba; Tbilisi, Georgia; Beirut; Japan; South Carolina; Montana; Indonesia and a few other places. It is very cool.

I would NOT want to live in Beirut for any reason.

To me it is the best show on TV right now.

Was there anything interesting about Iran Dude? Would you like to visit? By the way, it is not a sensitive issue for me, just asking as a friend :)

All of the show about Iran was interesting. I would love to visit if I knew that I would not get in trouble, but I am afraid that I might do something wrong not knowing that is was wrong and end up in jail.

Back to the show. They showed a lot about the food in Iran. It looked real good. They also talked a lot about how the people of Iran are starting to want more freedoms that have been allowed in the past. They focused on freedom of the press. They talked in depth to two Iranian newspaper reporters. At the end of the show they told that since the show was filmed, both reporters had been arrested.

But yea, if I knew for sure that I would not get in trouble I would love to visit Iran for a couple of days and see what it is like.

The show about Cuba was very interesting. I would not want to live there, but it isn't all bad.

The place I would not want to live is Beirut. Man that place is one the edge of violence and slaughter every minute. It is terrible. Frown

It is a wonderful show highlighting nuances of various cultures and exposing anyone interested in traveling, cultures, or traditions to new spots. Since the original posting here, Mr Bourdain has passed on to that big reality show in the sky. He was an artist himself, a chef, musician and martial artist, likely contributing to his ability.
