If ECF are so ineffective in obtaining funds from the government, let them stew in their own ineptitude. I could not care less about having an ECF grade or any other grade to be honest. With the advent of chess-on-line and playing in the Calderdale Chess League, I am quite happy. The BCF/ECF have tried to blackmail players for so long, so be it, they can keep their ineffectual grading system for me.
On reflection I don't think the ECF were ineffective in obtaining funds from the government, though I do question the use of those funds.
It seems that from its inception the ECF wished to bring all BRITISH chess under its umbrella.
Okay for Bulgarian dissidents, but the result for English chess will probably be the same! So now we know from Ihor's site that not all Yorkshire divisions need to join, just the elite. Do we presume this happened before in other parts of the country and now all eyes are on us?
Personally, I can't see giving the ECF so much power will ever help the development of chess. Isn't it time they tried straight forward talk instead of devious politcs?
