yup do you want to try the variant?
Board:
Main Rules:
The game is played on a 10 x 10 board, with additional files for the new Marshal (Knight/Rook) and Cardinal (Knight/Bishop), which are both placed on the king side. Because of the larger board size, most of the starting pieces are moved up one rank, with the exception of the rooks which remain in the last ranks.
In addition to the pieces and setup, there are three other significant differences:
Special Piece 1: The Marshal
The marshal is a piece that can move like a rook and knight combined. When writing the move use the letter M. e.g. 1. Mg4 or 1. Md1 Above are some examples of how the marshal looks.
Special Piece 2: Cardinal
The cardinal is a piece that can move like a bishop and knight combined. When writing the move use the letter C. e.g. 1. Cf4 or 1. Ch1
Above are some examples of how the cardinal looks.
Strategy:
Relatively little is known about many of the variants here. Creativity and attention to detail are always important. And so the following advice is tentative.
Try not to make "routine" developing moves. Sometimes it is worth spending more time to reposition fewer pieces optimally, rather than to develop many pieces suboptimally in less time. Even the variants which appear to resemble chess cannot be played with routine chess moves for very long.
Whoever answers the below tactic correctly first will be the first contestant to play with me. Explanation required for points. Good Luck!!!
