Gray pieces as walls

Now it is possible to capture gray pieces. Imagine that they become concrete walls and no one can capture/break them.

Some funny cases will be possible, for example:null

The queen is trapped.

Checkmate (even if gray pawns are not protected by some blue/yellow/green piece):

null

This pawn cannot be promoted to a queen (capture marked with red arrow is not possible):

null

It may be a new Custom Games variation/option, of course. Do we want it in the main Solo (FFA) variation too?

What do you think?

I rather take the normal path.

Get it? Because normal path = free of concrete walls + usual way.

leave well alone just silly !!!

Possible bad case:

Resigned red king can be captured by a knight only. What if there is no knight?

It can be prevented if gray pieces convert to walls only when their king is checkmated or captured.

"Silly" is not a counter argument. Lots of silly things are fun. Why not have such an option?

For example, isn't King Of The Hill silly?

Yes I do agree. Even though this is silly, we should try something new.

No one can prove it is silly. It is a chess-like game. If we place gray pieces on a board, it may be considered silly. Because there are no gray pieces in classic chess. But we have gray pieces in 4PC. Red, blue, yellow and green pieces are also may be considered as silly.

"Players can capture gray pieces" is as much silly as "gray pieces are like concrete walls". Why not remove "dead" pieces from the board once their king is checkmated? Someone can say that removing them is also silly. It is just an opinion.

I have been thinking of this immortal dead pawns! Yes it would be fun!!!!!

Gray pieces are already obstacles, since you can't jump over them (with the exception of knights of course). The suggestion is to make these obstacles indestructible. happy.png

I think it could be fun, but it could be frustrating too.
It could be argued that it's not in the spirit of chess to have permanently inaccessible squares on the board.

@BABYAGUN i think that having "grey walls" is a good idea because.. it will elinminate the possibility of those guys promoting to queen when they capture grey peices. And it also make it safer for "runaway" kings ti hide in the grey peice "structures". It will surely be an improvement. And as for the kings that are trapped in grey peices...

The peices can be captured for as long as the king is uncaptured. When the king is captured that is when the grey peices become "rock solid".

become "rock solid".

We can even change their pictures then to:

null

 like Plants vs Zombies
