Group Survey

Our group has been in existence for a few months, now, and I thought it might be a good time to see how the members think we're doing.  Please reply to this post with your thoughts on these topics, or any others that you think can help improve our group:

  1. Interaction - Are we doing too much?  Too little?  Do you receive too many "activity reminder" messages?
  2. Team Matches - I try to start a new match every week or so, depending on how fast the previous match filled.  Is this about right, or would you prefer more opportunities?  Less?  Are the rating brackets OK, or would you prefer more that match your personal rating range (let me know what that is if you want more brackets in your range).
  3. Study Groups - We have two study groups.  Do you participate?  Do you think they taketoo much time?  The current groups are both Chess Mentor groups...if you don't qualify for Chess Mentor, would you like us to start a different group?  Ideas on topics (particular Silman Books? Silman games? etc.).  Would you be willing to lead a group?  If so, on what topic?
  4. Vote Chess - we just started our first Vote Chess match.  Do you like this activity?  Should we continue, and if so, with only 1 match at a time?  Two matches???
  5. Any other ideas, recommendations, or comments?

Thanks for your inputs!

i really like this group. i don't get bothered too much about team matches and vote chess but i like to play both, just not all the time. i feel this team allows me to do that without too much pressure. i also like the option of a study group, even though i have chess mentor, it just shows the team is commited to trying to give the opportunity to be the best you can be. don't change anything.

im new to all this, i like the vote chess thingy..thats all im in, as far as i know. this is the first group ive been in, and frankly, i also have no idea where the study groups are and what they do. i suspect thats kinda a gray area to all us noobies to groups. ive kinda resigned myself to finding out what its all about, bit by bit.

I would be interested in a group devoted to reading through and discussing "How to Reassess Your Chess" 4th. A pace of something like one chapter (part) per month would seem doable. This book has been on my "need to read" list for sometime, and I know it would be easier in a group setting. Anybody else?

I'm in. I actually just had lunch with Mr. Silman and gave him my copy with all my notes in it for him to look through but as soon as I get the new copy he promised me, I would so be into this.

I figure one team match at a time is enough for me, but we do have 100+ members so 5 to 10 team matches is probably appropriate.

The Study groups are all good.  Nice to see what other people think about the same problem.
