Guess the move :)

I think Nf7+, Rg7+ is a mate-in-2 combo (I don't see the square numbers, but you know what I mean).

Correct, I posted it because it's an unusual mate pattern that I faced recently and I had to to think a few seconds to be sure it's a mate in 2.

Hope we're note spoiling the fun here,

LOOK AT THE DIAGRAMS AND TRY TO SOLVE THEM.

What about the second one Chris, what's your take on this ? I played the best move, the fact that I played the rest of the game before helped me because it's the same idea. But hard to find for sure

Terminated800

For the 2nd one, Kb6 maybe?

Chris_E_S3

Kg6, I guess.

Chris_E_S3

Josh and I agree

Terminated800

Oh yeah, flipped board

OjalaLlueva

Wow you both got it right congrats. I thought this one would be harder, how long did it take you to find it ?

OjalaLlueva

Using the king to threaten a mate in one is usually not an obvious move. Well done guys

Chris_E_S3

it took a while (>3 minutes). I thought of the knight check first. Then I noticed the great coordination of the pieces. The bishop is defended (twice). I also realized that your king could take away the only two escape squares of the other king and make the knight check deadly. Your king is safer on g6 than where he currently is and makes the other king less safe. Thanks for these two.

Terminated800

It took me less than a minute somehow. Sometimes I find a tough move without realising it and then can’t find a semi-obvious move

Chris_E_S3

Ok, what should Black play my fellow tacticians? It is about 0.8 better than the next best move.

Chris_E_S3

Of course, I found the second best move as I usually do

OjalaLlueva

I believe a rook move

Chris_E_S3

Yes, half-marks for that thumbup ( -> 0.5/1)

J-GC

Re1, no?

Chris_E_S3

Yes, cha-ching, ding-ding-ding. J-GC got it. It is actually not hard when you spot the bishop on b4 eyeing e1 too and my queen-bishop battery attacking the horse.

After Re1, White is supposed to give up the queen.
