Has anyone else had a position worth 250 pawns lol, i was playing the bot when it showed this

I was at 256 once before it found a mate in 50 something lol

i recorded the review and the number jumps up to 1000 and back to 250 then m14. thus position is odd

the chess.com ui just had not calculated the amount of moves until checkmate.

this high number is just how engines show checkmate in (x) moves

Theoretical max is 558 which is queens on 62 squares plus the two kings

Engines give a numerical value for when mate can be calculated and the site code converts that into Mx. If it can't see mate yet, but is absolutely winning, there's a specific# it will show.

I believe Stockfish uses 318 as mate and Komodo uses 250.

Which engine were you analyzing with and is it the website?

no, Checkmate is 360.0
