Having slow Internet makes me question my chess ?!?!

I was recently playing a 30 sec tournament and noticed that for some reason I am taking 3 to 4 seconds for a move and losing on time.

It is because of this reason that I tilted from 2500 to 2400. Huh and they say chess is a skilled based game smh. In blitz too I would not be able to handle scrambles. This is skilled based gamming and this makes me realise I gotta switch to rapid Or animal crossing. Guess I am not gonna play any blitz smh.

I am gonna rant the internet I am using is pretty decent gives like 30 mbps (on a good day ) And omg the isp here is even lower than that. Even that is not good enough to play fast chess.

Bro I get it, 30 second games are wild. Even with good internet you basically have to premove your soul out of your body. Don’t beat yourself up your skill didn’t disappear, it’s just the time control being dumb. Take a break, play some rapid, then come back fresh.

I get your point, i think playing 3+2 or 10+0 is better than pure raging when you lost on time (even though losing in slower time controls is also spicy). I actually watch some of your games and I'm impressed, maybe you should start playing slower chess and try to use your knowledge.

And for the delay, I think you should use a place that has good wifi like a cafe of somewhere, It's not serious that you tilted on your rating as you can gain it back. Also fast chess isn't very good if you play for a long time.

And if you feel uncanny in any parts, I apologize for that.

Thanks!

Don't know if your talking to me but heres my response anyway!

Thanks, I really appreciate you saying that. You actually make a good point playing 3+2 or even some 10 minute games would probably save me a lot of stress. Blitz and bullet are fun, but when the lag hits it just turns into rage instead of actual chess. Slower time controls might help me actually use the stuff I know instead of just panicking on the clock.

And honestly, it means a lot that you checked out some of my games. That’s really cool of you. I’ll definitely look into playing from a place with better WiFi too, because losing to delay instead of moves is just painful.

And don’t worry at all, nothing you said came across weird or uncanny. You were just being helpful, and I appreciate that. Thanks again!

Yeah it's just so frustrating when I know I could ez be 3k but because of Internet issues I am nowhere near that. Yeah I could try longer time or games with increment but it's just that I don't really enjoy games with increment to me it's draining and exhausting .

I want to play no increment to have an exciting time but yeah guess will be switching to rapid till I hit 2500.

No that's not the issue I am talking about in my case I only get 2 bars of Internet. And for me blitz and bullet at my level has been reliant on my internet locking in. I am just raging over how my internet sucks and I can't play modes I used to at the highest level.

Nah at my level 30 sec is not that tuff for me it's just having bad Internet connection makes not only 30 sec chess but blitz and bullet for me unplayable at my level. Instead of taking 0.1 sec for a premove it takes 0.3 which isn't much but at my level I am basically fked.

Actually longer time controls are very frustrating when you lose like I said. People choose short time controls because they want to play fast games and win fast.

The problem is that when you play bullet chess. Your brain will switch to premoves so when you play longer time controls you will have the same when you are in bullet so you would make blunders easier and your opponent ha time to see it.

I actually saw your latest game. Honestly it was nice even though there are some mistakes you have to fix. But playing a game like that after playing a lot of fast chess is impressive, I'd never played that good in rapid after I play 20+ bullet games on my 2nd account.

Glad to know you're going to change to rapid. I hope you will be 2500 and surpass me. You just need the courage to try it.

If you read this, Thanks for reading it! I appreciate that.

We are not hating hyperbullet. We are only talking about it and it's not the time control, it's the internet issue.

Recently I played in an otb tournament my first one and contrary to expectations I played at a 2000 level otb. And lost 1 game to an 1850 and won all against 1800 ish players.

My strength usually lies in rapid when I was struggling I was a 1900 at the time. I switched to blitz and bullet. My early success in those time formats made me comfortable to play fast time controls. And i gradually loved blitz and bullet. Ever since then I love playing fast chess.

Early having a bad internet connection didn't make much difference but when I reached 2500 having an unreliable internet really hurt my play . I was contemplating rapid ever since. I have switched to rapid hopefully I can adapt well.
