Sharing some of the useful tips for Players, Captains and Admins

If you need to leave a club match because your opponent has more players for example. ..

Press the x to leave a match or tournament.  See the picture below.   In this fictional match if Benjie presses the x he will leave the match, after confirming.  The circle ⭕️ will cancel the match and the triangle symbol shares a link.

This tip is to help Captains set up live matches against other teams.   Please feel free to ask me if you want me to set it up for you.

First at least 3 days ahead, the home team should contact the away team and check they are happy to play at your choice of date and time. I tend to find that even as away Captain it’s best to try and contact them.
Getting hold of some people is helped by sending them a friends request. This way you can both see when each other are on line.

Set up the match use the guide below.  I advise doing this at least a day in advance so it's not a rush on the night.

Leave rating and number of players blank.

Once the challenge has been sent please let the opposing teams admin know.  There now should be no need for both admins to be online at the same time, but it makes it work a lot smoother.

The opposition admin will need to go into live chess to see it.  There will be a pop up in the bottom right hand corner.  Accept if everything is ok.

Next copy the link to the match using the share icon (< with 3 circles).   Paste this in your team's forum and then copy and you can copy the link into any messages that you want to send.

Next try to confirm the number of players you will have with the opposing team so people will be aware if they are likely to have a game.  A minimum of 4 is needed but the more the better so everyone gets a chance to take part.

On the evening of the match remind your team and direct them to the link to join the match.  They will need to press the orange join button to take part.  There is also a chat function so you can check everything is ok with your team. However, on my iPad I struggle to use.

Please be aware if any of your team are members of the opposing team's group they won't be able to play for either team. In general It is fine to be members of two groups but a player will have to temporarily leave the group that's not their nominated team in order to play in the match.

Players will be ordered by their chess.com rapid play rating.

There will be a countdown to the start time and then the match will start automatically. Everyone plays two games one as white and one as black.  The 2nd game starts straight away after the first finishes.

Once the match has finished please can the link to the match be pasted to Selhurst who will update Matt who runs the leagues by posting in the Norfolk Knights results forum.

Please comment if you think I have missed anything and I will edit.  I hope this is helpful. Thank you to all the Captains for their support going into Season 2 Open and Under 120’s
