Jonathan, that's what I'm doing right now, and to some extent I hope is a good idea.

Awesome!!

rickathy97

I would love to participate, but it would have to be a "at your own pace" format.

pcbeatty

I agree with rickathy, it would have to be at "your own pace".  I love chess, and it's a passion, but at the end of the day it "doesn't put food on the table" and never will for most all of us who play.  How many people actually make any money playing chess?

dpruess

rather few pcbeatty. maybe 100 players in the world make money by playing. a large number (which I can't estimate) make money by teaching chess in various forms.

dittopacaya

By now I don´t have much time to study, but I would try to study 1 - 2 hours a week and maybe more.

serene123

I study at least a half hour monday through friday and sometimes on the weekend.

Arunava1996

I keep on practicing chess for 8-9 hours. My chess board is there everytime.I am not boasting.

NO HOMEWORK NO HOMEWORK!!!!!!!!

I study a lot I haven't kept up with the actual time but I never log out of chess.com

musiclife

Not having a job now, I can put in 2-4 hours of pretty focused work a day.  Realistically, 1 hour a day of focused time for this course seems reasonable.

noealbajim

2 hours is good

How much work/study material would your ideal course/instructor give you? an hour per day? an hour per week? 2 hours per day? half an hour per day?

How much do you currently study?

You'll be much better off spending all your study time on the suggestions of an IM/GM coach. But to design our courses, we need to know how much study material should go into our curricula.

Thanks in advance for your input!

I spend a LOT of time playing chess, but not enough time studying.

The_Storm1

2 hours per day at least

dajuggernaut

I am learning that some significant time must be spent studying in order to get better at chess and if a person doesn't make the time they will take longer to learn.

noealbajim

3 hours a day

Greetings;

8 hours a week min--12  to 15 hours is what I strive for.

jordankuhn

I'm taking some rough school courses, and don't have much computer time. But 1~2 hours a week is fine. I just discovered chess university, so I'm looking forward to having some fun :D
