How about a teamgame?

Playing here, there are many different possible ways to do it:

  1. Each team should decide there move by speaking SILENT together (by email, messages, ...). Then the team-leader should post the move in the game-thread.
  2. There should be 3 Threads. One for the game where both teams are allowed to read/write. There the moves will be posted. And then one thread for each team, where ONLY the team members are allowed to read/write.
  3. Doing all in only one thread. The discussion about the best moves will be there and the team-leader will finally post the decided move.

Of course method 1 will be the only real true team-game as it should be, but the discussion by email makes it long time using.
This should be only a game for fun and (hopefully) also promote shogi.

Method 2 is very close to 1 with the only difference, that no one can really proof that nobody is reading the thread of the opponents.
(Maybe only possible, if chess.com is supporting threats, where only invited people of the thread-opener can read.)
But again, it's only for fun.

So maybe I would prefer method 3.
Still it's a little bit strange, because you should not post all your secrets (like "... and if they make this move, we can mate in that way ...").
But on the other side, maybe we all can learn in this game, because it's NOT this way, that your opponent will be surprised by a fatal mistake.

What do you think about it???

So I would do it in the following way:

  • decide for two team-leaders (it's also no problem to change the team-leader during the game, for example when one is in vacation).
  • each member can decide for one team - it's also no problem to take part of a team during running game
  • decide for a time, at which the move should be done by the team-leader. Till this time is reached, all team members should tell there preferred move, they can change there decision in later posts. All can be posted, discussed and so on.
And when it's time to move is reached, the team-leader makes the move corresponding to this open (!) discussion.

Personally, I think it is a great idea.  But run it past tookArook for his input.

I like method 2 the best, run on the honor system.

Because of my current work load, however, I wouldn't be able to moderate it, so you'd have to find a moderator or do it yourself.

Method 2 is also okay, for me.

About team-moderator: I for myself don't like to be one, but if no one else like to do it (and furthermore are enough players to build two teams), I will start as one.

Principally I don't like turn-based-games (like at brainking) and prefer "short" time limit, but than I had the idea about this kind of team-game and I think it's worth trying.

Hi again,

all this methods suggested above have one big disadvantage: we are living around the earth, so if one is writing his/her opinion, the others maybe read it 6 hours later. Then when they write, again 6 hours later it will be reading => there is not really and discussion about the move to do.

So I have found a new idea. Of course the problem about discussion wouldn't be solved, but read:

    4. There is only one thread. All members of the team to move WITHOUT the team-moderator are writing there preferred move and ONLY this, not any variation, not any variant move, only for example "P7g-7f".
And when the time to move is reached, the team-moderator selects the move he/she like to do, but he can ONLY SELECT one which was suggested by one member of his team.
Maybe you know this from "three-brain", where two brains (team-member) are computers and the third brain (team-moderator) is a human, who select one of the two moves given by the computers. Wink

I think, taking care about turn-based-moves with the people all around the world and difficulties to make conversation, this could also be a nice was.

This variant can also be extended, that for example also "!" and "!!" are allowed for your suggested moves. Or maybe each player are allowed to give two suggestions, or to give one move for suggestion to play and one move he/she DON'T like to play.

But first wait about your opinion about this variant.

I am up for it but I too have no time with my job right now to be a moderator...very busy workload at work for next few months

keep me posted

So we should start checking how many people like to contribute and which rule-method they prefere (ordered from most wished to less wished).
We need at least 6 persons (3 each team) that it will be a good teamgame. For rule-variant 4 it would be better at least 4 each team, because if one person is in vacation, there should be at least two moves to select one from them.

And second, if available as moderator.

I like to contribute by rules: 4 (most wished), 3, 2 (less wished)

I'm ready as team-moderator, but would prefer that any other will do it. Wink

Oh, it seems there is not enough interest in a Shogi-Teamgame. That's far away from 6 player minimum.

So maybe I must activate my schizophrenic brain and play against myself. Cool

:) Hi BCMShogi . I like the humor Smile

Maybe we could play a game?

Oh, do you like to play against me, or do you prefere to play against me, or maybe you would like to play against me both? Cool

As I told, I don't like long-turn-based-games and thought that I should give it a try as teamgame.

But when you'll meet me at playok, of course we can play a game there.

Too often. Wink

I try to play less, to have more time for other things.
