how do I stop making careless mistakes against me 2100 opponents

sometimes I would +1, and then its -2 in one move

lol but actually try to make sure you looking over entire board, try to visualize more, positional games are more important at that level. I say this as I blundered 3 games yesterday

Clearly time control matters, but perhaps I'd investigate positional study deeper. A lot of times when I mess up on a single move in dramatic evaluation, I tend to find that my move was executing the "wrong plan" positionally. I'm not necessarily advocating for longer time controls, but merely stating that some deeper positional study may be beneficial...

p.s. then again, I'm currently just one of the "little guys" with a sub-2000 rating (although at least over 1900 on chess.com for the time being), so perhaps we need a higher rated player to respond...

where is @B1ZMARK when you need them? Say their username twice more and they will likely show up; three times is the charm if I'm not mistaken grin.png

Sounds like a sure way to reinforce bad habits and repeat mistakes without knowing it xD I'm sure what you intended to say was probably "gain more experience" and to this I'd say that you are 100% correct. Speed chess does get more games in the same time-frame - making "experience" come about shorter, but when learning, it is more about quality than quantity.

hey I chose blitz for a reason

better to have some of both quality and quantity

if i thought that quantity was the only important factor i would have advised batman to play 10 sec bullet all day, but that's not gonna help at all.

really long time control for quality would be sure to make you blunder less, but no one got time to play rapid solely for the purpose of blundering less

although i guess it depends on what kind of blunder you make

if you want to work on suppressing mate in 1s or outright hanging pieces for no good reason, then blitz and bullet may be more effective.

if you trying to prevent yourself from allowing your opponent to make a 6 move tactical combination that wins two pawns and leaves your king vulnerable, then it's probably better to do rapid because you aint gonna see that in blitz game
