for me it has help me understand outher's way of life regardless if I agree with their oppinions or not
How has chess helped you improve in other areas of your life?
for me I have been humbled by how much I need to work on with chess, I think that I am more aware of the fact that I am restarted back to beginner level and I should study my moves and plan thing out again which hence the fact that I play bots and study more openings and plan ahead by also learning the endgame and the middle game but in other areas It made more aware about other people thoughts and feelings and I don't have a great time dealing with that but it helps me become more open-minded
•It made me realize that some random facts about anything, in this case chess, may make you feel like genius but the one who is actually good has good abilities and understanding, that allows him/her to deduce those facts from it, even though no one told those facts before.
•It showed me importance of pattern-recognition, intuition and understanding, that may also apply even for things that not chess
•You cannot master anything by memorizing facts but actually learning things and training
It gave me a reason to brag in school (It made me popular). And it is the reason I got accepted into my high school, which is known for chess. Yeah chess really turned my life around, I think it made me smarter as well.
It didn't help at anything IRL as I already had a lot of patience practicing long sitting hours.....but in chess I'd say I find pattern recognition very cool.
Well i believe how i begun in the child, was a improve in the form search information and form learned, in 0-1000 elo was the patience, search videos and practice, for me in this step was more the interest of extract information and use in chess, of 1000 -1400 i was studying the book My System by aroon nimzowistch but now the form studying changed, now is not a video you enjoy, is more serious and need more resistance for read above all now in this world where don't read books, then for me this step of videos to book, was the more hard, of 1400-1500 was the interest, i leave the motivation for play, while 2 years i was stuck, and i don't can't come back to read the book, but again change come back to studying but add analysis of move for move for the game complete, try learn of game, for example how use the adventaje of have good position of pieces, things don't say in the words only in moves, add playing from positions of book until i win or if is a equal position try to resist the better against machine, and after analysis the games the mistake and learn, sincerely in this end my form study have a evolution, for me if wants learn use the curiosity, why win the blacks in this position? Why use this plan? Why do this move now and not before? Why this combination works? And learn a lot, if only follow the themes understand yes, but doing this ask know more and have low mistake, need more time yes, but is better study one book good than read 5 for the equal knowledge
For me, it's patience, which has helped a lot with work and investments. When stuffs don’t go as planned, I’ve learnt to stay calm and not make decisions based on emotion. I really hate losing hence chess is a way to practice that part of me.
