Read about "Rating Deviation aka Glicko RD" in #1
Sometimes I definitely fail to understand it.
For example here:
https://www.chess.com/4-player-chess?g=5219248
red (2299) wins against two flanks who have 2400 and 2491 (the opp' being at 2090). I know that it takes into account the average rating; but whatever, what REALLY happened, that's the 2090 player has been classically killed by the flanks. And red managed to win despite of that, against 2400 and 2491 rated players. And... he only got poor ridiculous 18 points.
As discussed here some 2-3 months ago (Klimt, are you here?), we should definitely use the opposite player rating and the flanks' ratings differently. If you lose because your opp is much lower than the average, it's not the same when you lose with a strong opp and one weak flank. Whereas now the system doesn't take it into account in FFA.
your deviation is very low (58), that is why your changes are smaller, you also lose less when you lose.
deviation goes up when you play players that are much higher or lower rated than yourself, so very high and very low rated players have higher deviation (rating differences are often large in their games), and their rating changes are larger.
How does rating works when u loose at teams? weakest player loose more points than stronger
As explained in the original posting, rating changes are calculated from a few different parametres, not just your current rating. When playing as teams, you and your teammate both earn 1 win or 1 loss. How that win or loss affects your own rating may be vastly different for you and your teammate. For example, if your rating is lower, but you have a higher deviation, it's possible that your rating change will be very significant, whilst your teammate's may not.
In fact, as a general principle, players with higher ratings typically have lower deviations, so wins and losses don't elicit much of a change. Players with lower ratings (newer players) usually take more of a rating loss or gain simply based on the fact that they have higher deviations.
Also consider that when playing as team, and as the lower rated of the pair, you partially earn or lose points as a player with a higher rating would, so in upsets (lower rated beating higher rated), your rating is changed more significantly regardless of deviation.
Idk what just happend, at the end of the game, I was playing vs the red guy, I then something happend and said ¨Red team autoclaim" and I lose that game, what is that? what's autocliam? How do I do that?
I think its when you are winning by enough points to win, you just auto claim the win. Sort of annoying in my opinino. But saves time.
Or it's just that their Glicko RD is really high. I recently played against a sandbagger multiple times in the Hyper Fiesta All Week arena, and they had a rating of 900, and a Glicko RD of 100. Probably because playing against 1900-2500s wasn't helping much.
I am usually a little angry about games which are aborted at the beginning. So I repeat an old proposal: Not only penalty minus points for the aborter but also a plus point for the other three players.
But then players with a lot of aborted games will have higher ratings. So I suggest maybe -10 rating points instead of -0.7 or 0.5.
Also, everyone is tied the same number of points of 20, all of the players are 1500 with glicko RD of 120, what happens to the rating in such a case? I know it is next to impossible, but I am curious.
yeah that would be weird but I think they would all gain rating though there ratings might stay the same.
is it possible to reset rating and glicko?
yeah that would be intresting so then you could reset from any rating back to 1500? and 120
Here again, I get 14.9, he gets 48.4, WTF?!!
