How to schedule a game

Please read "Our time" for basic info. You need a Trello account to schedule games. When you have a Trello account and have joined our Trello Team (after having received an invitation from me), you can schedule 90-minutes games on the Trello board like this:

1) Go to the Trello board called "Games". It should look something like this:

Trello Games

2a) Either add your name to a card with only one name. E.g. to the one labeled "Wed 14.00: Stefan & ?" in the example, if you want to accept a game posted by someone else. Or:

2b) Make a new card, if you want to suggest a time for playing a 90-minute game.

You can make as many cards as you want. happy.png

Remember to use UTC, as this is our time standard.

Also, please remember to add a GREEN label to a card when it is a go, in other words when it has two players. And if you have to cancel a game you have previously accepted, please change the label color to YELLOW on Trello and send a private message here on chess.com to inform your opponent. When BOTH players have agreed to cancel the game, please change the label color to RED.

This is all that is needed to schedule a game. To actually play the game, simply log on to chess.com and challenge your opponent 5-10 minutes before the game is scheduled. To keep things simple let's say that it's the player who initially wrote the game card on Trello who will send the challenge on chess.com.

I hope this is clear. If not, please ask any questions you might have.

I have a question please 🙋

Once a board is created or accepted.... Change label to green....

i. e. WEEK 4 FRIDAY 1700HRS

Opponent A & Opponent B

Wouldn't it be easier to find each other, if we (the opponents) are on the friends list...... Doing a Live challenge for the 1st time.....🙆

So I am unclear how players find each other.....on Live.... . 🤷

Thx😊

True. I will add something about that in the tutorial when time permits. But yes, adding our opponents to our friend list ahead of a game is a good idea. happy.png

Just a suggestion if you don't mind, Stefan...... 😇

Uh, for those who might have some difficulty navigating through Trello in organizing a date, and time with fellow members.....

Could an alternative be arranged💁?

Perhaps, through forums on here (starting a thread using UTC time ⌚ and week numbers 🔢)

i. e.

Thread Title Name = WEEK 5

All intended games made available by players posting a request on time ⌚ and dates 🗓......

Players that accept, may comment

Then use the group calendar to post once confirmation on the intended date and time is agreed?

Thoughts💭?

I appreciate the suggestion. However, I think having more than one place for game invitations will only add confusion. Previously, I was in two other clubs for slow and serious games. But I never got a game there, due to too many options, e.g. negotiations about how long the games ought to be etc. That's why I created this group, with 90-minutes game only. Trello is super easy to use unless you have some issues with your device, so I say we stick to our current method - at least for now. When I find the time I'll make a screencast or something to show how Trello works. happy.png
