BTW, you can test the voice announcements by observing someone else's live game.
HOW TO USE DGT BOARD AND CHROME EXTENSION CORRECTLY !
With the very most respect, in the sense that I like the DGT board and would like to play on chess.com. How can this already be advertised if it does not correctly work yet? This would be ok if still under Beta, but now the feature was moved out of Beta and should work.
The thread mentions castling as a problem. Yesterday I tried queen-side castle with Black. I slid the king to c8, as soon I started to slide the rook it interpreted this as Rc8. Game spoiled.
The thread also mentions promotion; I tried several times to promote a pawn. It never worked, neither by straight moving on the last row, or moving by capturing on the last row, just not. Promotion is possible only on the screen, so it is impossible to play on the board alone, which is the goal.
What are your experiences? Playing with the board would be great, but it doesn't work normally yet. Have these bugs been taken up? Is there any forecast (thank you) for these bugs fixed?

I'll have to test promotion, I would usually expect to lift the pawn from the 7th and place the queen on the 8th. Does that not work?
As for castling, yes it is a problem, the board picks up the move too early. I find that sliding pieces is to be avoided. If you lift the King and then place on the new location it works fine.
No, the promotion does not work either way. Lifting the pawn, putting the queen on the last row does not work. Placing the pawn on the last row by sliding or lifting and putting down, replacing with queen does not work.
I understand that you want to try to play with the board somehow using workarounds, but that does not work for me. Sliding the pieces is supported by the DGT board; no reason this shouldn't work. The software must adapt to the users need, not the other way around. When playing chess, I need 100% focus on chess and cannot afford to have 5% focus to prevent that the software spoils the game.

~I agree, there i no reason it shouldn't work, but the fact remains at present its flaky with that specific move, so taking a little extra care when castling means you can still use the board. You could let that small problem stop you using the board altogether and that's your choice but seems a bit of an overreaction to me
Maybe it's a style thing, I rarely slide pieces even when playing on a regular board. and always move the king first when castling
Promotion is a regularly happening move as castling. The current status means that I need to have my computer by the side when about to promote, and under time pressure, this is a big disadvantage and annoyance.
Of course, in castling, you have the move the king first; otherwise, it's a rook move.
For me, I don't see the point in the discussion. The Acid Ape Chess software shows that seamlessly playing online with the board is possible. It's time that some high rated players step in and explain that it is no fun to lose a game for technical problems.
You are free to move the pieces as you like, but sliding the piece is rather the common way of moving the pieces. Watch Beth Harmon or Carlsen.

I didn't say it was uncommon, I said it wasn't my style. Maybe that's why I have fewer problems.
Do you not need your computer nearby anyway to see or hear your opponents move?
Regardless, if you are aware of the issues then you can either play using your board working around the issues when they may occur, or you can give us the use of the awesome board here until its fixed. Its up to you. Personally, castling doesn't affect me and I don't mind using the screen to make a promotion.
There is no issue; we have different expectations. For my expectations, my last game was the last for some time. I have no idea where to report this elsewhere.
For me, but please read this in a positive sense, videos like this one explaining the use are great. But it presents the integration as if it's final. Which is not the case and so it's misleading. I report my user experience here nothing more. I like the board, but I will not delude myself and say it's great to play with here - I will not do that because I like the board.

Raise a support ticket if you want it to get changed, that's the only way.
~I took my zcreenshot wrong, you axtually want the Report A Bug optin.
I do understand what you are saying, but my experience is that it works very well , as long as you keep in mind the castling issue

Have the same problem. Just first move is recognized and no voice commentary....
Solved! The problem was that it is necessary to set up chess.com to language English, BUT the Chrome browser must be in English too!!!

@BaronVonChickenpants @danielbaechli i'm in total agreement with you Baron, i'm very well clued up on these boards, and although i admittedly myself had a few teething issues when chess.com announced the intergration with the DGT boards, i soon realised you sometimes have gotta take the bold steps and be confident using the board, when you find a problem like did with castling, its a simple case of taking your time, picking up the king first ! wait a second or 2 and then place it on its destination square, again wait and chess.com will recognize the move as castling, once its been played on the screen then and only then move the rook to its correct square. with regards to sliding pieces, i've never once had an issue and always slide my pieces, the key is to be swift with your moves, whatever you do, don't dawdle and slide your pieces slowly or else your simply giving the board and the software more time to pick up a different move than the one you want to play.

Yes, settings in the plug in don't work with systems that use the LiveChess program. I mentioned it more to day that that kind of facility /is/ available with the boards. Maybe it needs to be built into LiveChess itself? Should we also be raising support issues with Dgt direct?
The setting works in RabbitPlugin? With which software and how? No such options found in LiveChess yes, and yes of course RabbitPlugin and LiveChess are not related.
I find the following observation very important. For example, for King-side castle for Black, I quickly moved the king from e8 to g8 by lifting and putting down. Then just afterwards I grabbed the rook and moved it to f8. The voice announcement said Rg8, and that was the move taken. In my understanding, for castling, one must move the king by lifting and putting down, and essentially, after putting down, one must wait until the castle move is recognized and only then move the rook. Then there is no problem. Just to share.
Over time, by my understanding, the following points, in addition, are required for the great post by CaroKannCarl.
1) One must start a game by using the old interface. So by using Play / Live Chess / Play, which opens the old interface.
One must not use the new interface via Play / + New Game / Play. Here the voice extension does not work at all, and the move detection only works partly but completely unreliable.
2) Moves are preferably made by lifting up and putting down the pieces, not sliding.
3) When castling, as required, first move the king. Then wait until the software announces the detection of the castling move. Only then move the rook accordingly.
4) Always double-check that you replayed the opponent move correctly. The software will not tell you if you didn't. If you replay the move incorrectly and make a move that is possible in the correct position, the software will take it).
The feature to activate the DGT board is now always in the settings. There is no need to join a Beta program.
I also created a video to connect all the dots. I hope it helps.

I used this ok Sunday, worked fine in the end. I had to restart the browser completely before it would pick up the board but once connected it was fine, and move announcements worked fine.
