I cannot change the email that chess.com sends my alerts to

Hello everyone! I have tried a few times to change the email address where chess.com sends my alerts to but every time I do it, a message that says "An account with this email already exists" shows up and chess.com refuses to change my email. However, I never seem to receive alerts on the email address I want to switch to. Can anyone help me solve the problem?

Browser: Google Chrome
Computer: Windows 10

Perhaps someone else used the email address you want to change your alert destination and closed the chess.com account after some time. This can result in an obstruction of new chess.com alerts and messages to that account. This is just an idea and I hope this helps!

 Mine is set so no alerts are sent at all. I like it that way.

@Wakmuves I think that I used to have an account with my email address. It was closed a few days after it was created.

I also have the same problem as you do: I don't know how to switch the email address on Chess.com. The only difference here is I use a Linex computer.
