Brilliant move: FXG4!!

To all of US it looks stupidly obvious, but the reason it's brilliant is because it unlocks a whole second wave of tactics. I feel stupid cause I still almost lost the game but of course the move that makes a 3900 chess engine rethink it's whole life plan was too complex for my pee brain

The whole POINT of it was that I was playing for a draw. The part of it that was SUPPOSED to be brilliant was me creating a huge quantum-brain blockade to where the best that Black (if he were another computer) could hope for was a draw. The surface part was obvious cause "ooo free bishop", the second part wasn't cause I'm no grandmaster. Luckily though I'm low-rated so my opponent is just as foolish as I am.

After queen takes - which sets up some scary bad trades / losses if I make the wrong decision, I have to play kge2 to guard the king further - and the only option for black to open the position is to push the b pawn all the way to b4 - giving me two turns to get somethin set up and keep the position neutral - with the engine top picks being Rf1, hoping for Rf4 to mess with the queen, h3 to just DIRECTLY tell the queen to frick off, and playing Re1 to help protect the knight further not being too bad either.

However, I didn't see that I was playing to defend, I was just in murder mode so I played aggro and almost got whacked. After the mistake I made, he played the best moves - until he went all the way to the other side of the board to do what he could have done by moving two inches to the left.  Engine said was supposed to do a small little queen check chain ending in Qxa2 which while the engine says is -2.8ish i'm finna die cause barely any of my pieces can play the game)

Thanks Chess Engine, for showing me something cool. I don't know how to find tactics to play for draws... maybe I should look at those sometime

Also yay! Now I have more stuff to study and some good encouragement to play the game more happy.png

EDIT: RF1 WAS BEST FOR SOMETHING ENTIRELY UNRELATED RF4 IS A BLUNDER I AM NOW BEING MURDERED BY THE MAX STRENGTH AI PLEASE SEND HELP HIKARU GOTHAM MOON ANYONE AAAAAAAAAA

Oh rook f4 was supposed to be played eventually just after a long string of moves preventing the knight from hanging

also here's image if you need it, i guess higher rating players see it as best move but i get brilliant on my chess baby analysis

congrats lol

fxg4 is not brilliant because it unlocks a higher level of tactics. Stockfish just says it's brilliant because it's difficult for AI to determine moves that are hard for humans to find.
