I think this is how the UI should be changed.

It's still in development, so can I suggest some things

It has a lot of potential to be grat

1. make the messages, notifs, and friends able to hover over

2. make them all bigger

3. move the notifications back to the chess.com thing

4. Make the sidebar customizable

Also the chat and messages should be seperated, it’s too confusing now

And make it a bit more smooth, like genuinely it's laggy.

They need to make the alerts and the side bar not take up the whole screen when you open it, other than that the icons are honestly cleaner but the fact that the notifications and side bar takes up the whole screen sets it back a lot

I think that the change is great. However, I have the following suggestions on the sidebar:

  • I can pin the "Puzzles" submenu item from the "Puzzles" menu. They have the same name and same icon but do different things. That's confusing.
  • I have the option to unpin a whole menu and I'm afraid to do so because I'm not sure where to find it.
  • Keep the original menu and make pinned items appear on top, visually separated from the "stock" ones (with a divider or smth).
  • Add a hamburger icon on the right of menu items (or similar). Right-click is not too intuitive in web (on desktop), nor it exists on touch displays.
  • Add an option to reset the menu layout.
  • How about adding a pen icon on the top of the sidebar to switch to edit mode and, in this mode, allow dragging, dropping, moving items around, pinning and unpinning? Or maybe dedicated settings page for configuring the sidebar?
