Agree. I find it intriguing how some players can manage to play hundreds of daily games at one time. If they can do it, cool, but personally I feel like that defeats the point of daily chess - namely, to be able to deeply think through moves and fully extrapolate move lines from positions. It is pretty amazing how people do that, though...
If Every One Did This???
I don't think there should be a limit to the number of games one can play. There are many players (even titled) who play daily like blitz or even bullet (that might only be me). I pay almost no attention in daily and only have have a few games compared to the person you mentioned (at most 35 but usually between 5-10). I can't really manage more than 30 games (occasionally I do but my playing quality goes down a lot), but other people can. I don't see why someone can't play as many games as they want. It does kind of get rid of the point of deeply but it's not a requirement for daily.
Of course. I wasn't saying there should be a limit on daily games, just that in my opinion people shouldn't play that many.
I agree with batman, that there is not much learning going on with that many games, if one really wants to improve their chess game or make friends? Maybe trying to set a record regardless how poorly they play? Now when I think about it, you wonder if the person you are playing is not taking your game serious, just as they say, pushing wood?
Good argument. There's a certain mental edge I gain when I play games against an opponent who I know has several dozen others going on at the same time. And speaking of record setting, the player who currently holds the #1 position in the Daily Chess leaderboard (@Elroch) has only played about 130 games. This proves that you don't need to play thousands of games to get there and, to me, that's pretty helpful and inspiring since I have the same technique of one or two quality games at a time.
Elroch is one of my favorite people here on chess.com, he can be very helpful when you need some advise, and a all round nice guy to talk to that is type to ! lolo
So many famous people are jerks these days... as Calvin in Calvin and Hobbes says, "Heck, we're lucky if they don't end up in jail." Somebody who's popular and nice stands out.
When I opened chess.com, I noticed I had a chess challenge, I usually only like to play three games at a time because I give each game some thought, and it could take 30mins or more if needed even two or more visits return to the game position? But the person that challenged me had a rating of 300 points or more below me, so I said what the heck, yes I accept your challenge. I asked the person how they found me and they said by random pick, ok?
After playing with this person about 7 or more moves I went and looked at there chess activity and was shocked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They had over 400 games all going on at the same time, and they needed to challenge me to a game ?????????????? This player I will not name the country nor male or female, but was NOT a premium member at any level, just a individual taking advantage of chess.com.
So I wonder if every other person did this would that cause a over-load burden on the chess.com system. Even if not, should there be considered a limit how many games one person has going on at the same time?? 400 games, WOW! Especially a player really just learning the game??
