I was actually connecting this with my recent activity, I didn't know there was any update happening, but I did start getting more challenges lately as well. What did the update entail? I like getting challenges, because it makes games happen outside of club matches for me in the daily profile 
Does anyone know why is there suddenly a big influx of challenges, especially for 7 days per move?
It seems to coincide with an update of Chess.com, so maybe there's a new feature prompting them.
Is it based on some kind of profiling? I notice lots of the challenges come from players I played with a while ago, while others come from unknown players, or recent regular opponents.
I have nothing against these challenges. I'm just curious to know about the algorithm behind. Is it something similar to social media's "friend suggestions" or "you might know this person"?
