This is a place for members to chitchat about anything. Of course, avoid disrespectful and hateful messages. Better avoid curse words and things like that also, because the machine sensors might banish you for that even if moderators don't.
A couple of players join many club matches and tournaments but lose nearly 100% of their matches on time. This is not good. Do not join club matches or tournaments if you are unable to follow them through. Most of the matches and tournaments have 3 days per move. Be conscious of this if you join them! If you have a tendency of regularly going offline for 3 days or more, then you shouldn't join such matches. Instead, you're adviced to play live chess only, or play private daily chess matches (not the club ones), where you can choose your time limits or set the vacation setting for your absences - or even if you lose on time, it won't bother anyone else. When you lose on time in club matches, it has an impact on your team mates who might lose the entire match because you lost your games on time. This note is only for those who lose most or many of their match games on time. If you only lost that way a couple of times, don't worry, that happens to everyone.
A couple of remarks on the developments in our club: We keep falling down in victory rate - meaning, we keep losing more club matches than we win. There are two clear reasons for this: First, our strongest players don't often enlist in our club matches. Mainly lower-rated players enlist in them - which means the opponent teams often end up being stronger. And especially in matches where the opponent teams have already enlisted many strong players, our own players seem to be timid to join - fearing they will face stronger opponents. Which is understandable, but doesn't really help us win the matches. Second and even more important: our members are losing far too many games on time. This is an eternal issue and every club struggles with it. We are all humans, after all, and chess is just a game, more important issues make us busy in life and make us forget our games until its too late. It happens to me, too. But if you keep losing almost all your club matches on time, then you may have a more systematic problem - and you should reconsider how many club matches you enlist to. In other words, while I keep encouraging people to enlist to our club matches and tournaments, at the same time I would like to remind you that when you enlist, please then also keep track on time. Don't enlist to more clubs and more matches than you can handle. If you have more than you can handle in your hands, don't enlist to more. And especially, don't just abandon all your matches and open a new account. That's not honorable. A person of honor finishes what he starts. Even if that means losing or surrendering. We are gradually growing with new members joining every few days. But at the same time, a very small number of members are active. And there's no discussion at our forum. So, I'd like to encourage you to also talk with the fellow members about anything you wish, especially under this place (forum). Finally, I wish very good New Year 2023 for Club Coronación! It's been an honour to serve as an admin here, and to play so many matches that I now seem to be the top match player of our club - surpassing even the Club's founder and superadmin, @DrMartinezGomez ! Feliz año nuevo!

Does anyone know why is there suddenly a big influx of challenges, especially for 7 days per move? It seems to coincide with an update of Chess.com, so maybe there's a new feature prompting them. Is it based on some kind of profiling? I notice lots of the challenges come from players I played with a while ago, while others come from unknown players, or recent regular opponents. I have nothing against these challenges. I'm just curious to know about the algorithm behind. Is it something similar to social media's "friend suggestions" or "you might know this person"?
Yesterday, many new club matches started, because the rosters filled or because the deadline set for the start came. Many more club matches are due to start in the coming days. Before we start organizing new club matches, I would like to take this opportunity to remind our brave players to avoid losing on time. Most of the club matches allow 3 days per move. While you are totally free to play faster than that, please please attend your games at least once in every three days. If you know you're gonna be away from internet, if you have exams, or something else, then please use the vacation setting to stop your games. Most of the club matches allow this. Some matches and tournaments are no-vacation, which means the vacation setting doesn't stop the games. If you're enlisted in such matches, please remember them. You can move the no-vacation games even when your vacation setting is on, without losing the vacation setting. We've been losing more games than winning for some time now, and one reason is that some players regularly forget their games and lose them on time. I will not name them, and they will not be kicked out of the club or anything, but if you belong to this group, try to be more observant. Don't join too many matches at the same time if you can't handle them. Join only as many as you're comfortable with, even when you might get busy in your life, studies or work. Losing a couple of times on time is no big deal. Accidents happen. But if you continuously lose almost all your match games on time, perhaps it's better you think twice before you join any matches. Let other players who keep control of their time handle them.
Our daily match results have fallen down somewhat. We still win more matches than we lose, but barely so. Why this is the case? There is one obvious reason: Our teams are often clearly outrated by the opponent teams. This is partly my fault. Whenever I sent match challenges to other clubs, I tried to put the top limit of ELO so that all our members could participate (if they wanted). Recently, the best two players on our leaderboard have ELO over 1800 but below 1900, and for this reason, I set 1900 as the ELO limit to most of the challenges I sent out. I didn't want our best players to think they can't join these matches. However, most of those of our players who actively join club matches are below 1500. This means that very often, when a club match has 1900 as the limit, our team's best player is 1500 while the other club has several players in their 1600s or 1700s. We play against stronger players, and that's why we lose more matches lately. If we want to win more club matches, either our higher-ranking players must join more often, or we need to create lower-ranked club matches targeted to the ELO range where we have most active match-players. Another reason is that every now and then, players forget their games and lose them on time. This happens also to our opponent teams, but nevertheless, the fewer games are lost on time, the better. Not only because of club matches but because of yourself: I know it's very frustrating to lose games on time, especially if they were games you were winning. Two members recently asked me how to get stronger opponents in matches. When people join matches, the opponents are automatically selected in order of the ELO of the players. So, the strongest player in our team gets the strongest player in the opponent team, and so on. When you join a match, you see the rosters, and you also see your future opponent - unless someone else joins in the meantime and goes between, or someone's ELO changes so that their place in the roster also changes. The higher your own ELO, the higher-ranked opponents you also get, because you'll be higher in the roster. If you want higher-ranked opponents in general and not just in club matches, that's easy. Open chess.com on computer, and go to where it says "social" (earlier, this button was called "connect"). There, select "members". There, you get a little search engine, which you can use to find opponents. Select "advanced search" and there you can set criteria: you can search players from a particular country, or you can set ELO limits. If you have, for example, 1400, but you would like to play against people who have 1700, you just put ELO limits 1650-1750, and you get a list of players. You can see their profiles and send them challenges. Usually, those players who were most recently online are on the top of the list. Other questions: Q: How to join club matches? A: You can join them here. Q: How can I see those matches that have already ended? A: You can see them here. Q: How can I see the ongoing tournaments? A: You can find the tournaments here. You then select "current" and "my tournaments", and you find those tournaments where you are playing. Q: How can I see my ranking in the club? A: You see your daily match ranking here. For tournaments, there doesn't seem to be a combined ranking for a club, so you have to choose either the total ranking for tournaments here, or you go to the particular tournament and see its ranking, like here for Club Coronación's first tournament. I hope these explanations and links prove useful!
We have reached over 300 members! We have also won 55 % of the matches we've played with other clubs. The number has dropped from over 60 %, which it was, but that's partly because we have been playing against tougher opponents than before. That's why we hope that our members actively participate in club matches and fill the rosters of our teams, especially where we're outnumbered or outrated. You find the current open club matches here. The results of completed matches you find here. And matches in progress, which currently number 66, you find here. But the club is not only about matches. You're also welcome to post forum notes and discuss issues that interest you. And make suggestions on what we should do next. Enjoy the games!
Sent out 2 challenges and 1st one responded already =) You can join in the link below. https://www.chess.com/club/matches/club-coronacion/1314065
As all this writing-describing and chess community stuff is pretty much new to me. I decided to do something special and I made my first blog. Second one is on its way, as I'm finding words to describe my thought process in a somehow interesting way hopefully. Hello and welcome to my chess world beginnings https://www.chess.com/blog/Alkolol/rollercoaster-of-brilliant-moves-and-blunders
We've won 8 out of 10 games during the month of August. We are growing incredibly fast, and facing victory has become a habit to us. A habit we shall keep and take care of. By the way, welcome to the new members. We always have matches you can join, click on this link to see them: https://www.chess.com/clubs/matches/club-coronacion

Our club now has over 140 members. Welcome to the new ones! Our first internal club tournament is now in progress, with 32 players battling it out, and the first four games have already finished! It has been so far a triumph for our Ecuadorian members, who won all the four games against their opponents! You can follow the tournament in its page, which has many nice features, such as this chart of all the pairings. In the matches against other clubs, we had a couple of defeats, against Chess Snipers and Chile Club de Ajedrez Chess-960, but then we again scored victories against Bird Watchers and Feeders, and Storm Riders. You find here the new coming matches where you can join. And you can follow ongoing club matches here. And then the final point... Do you have any wishes for the admins? Are you enjoying the matches and the tournament we've set out, or do you have other suggestions? Do you know a good club we should challenge? Also, if you are getting too many or too few notifications, you can go to the club settings and choose which notifications you want, or switch them all off. Si quieres la misma información en español, pregúntale a cualquiera de los administradores.
After several victories, we had a defeat against Vampire Chess, and two draws against Your Worst Knightmare and against Queen Hunters. Well, we cannot win every time. Many more matches are advancing well, and besides, there are new club matches waiting for players here: https://www.chess.com/clubs/matches/club-coronacion Also, don't forget to enlist in our first private tournament, which is for Club Coronación members only, so that we can play and get to know some of our club mates. Nuestro equipo ha ganado el torneo contra las Polgar Sisters. Bien hecho, amigos, teníamos un equipo oponente fuerte, pero aún así triunfamos!
Our team has won the match against Anime Fans Club overwhelmingly, with 13 vs 1! Felicitaciones por el equipo por la victoria en el torneo con Anime Fans Club! We are doing very well in other club matches too: 42 club matches are in progress, and we are currently in the lead in 19 of them, losing in 12, and the rest are even.

Ganamos otro torneo de clubes, contra Enroque Largo. Felicidades, equipo! We won another club match, against Enroque Largo. Congratulations, team!
First and foremost, welcome new members. If you're new and reading this, don't forget to read the rules and remember that you can join daily matches to play for us against other clubs. Here's some information about daily matches written by our admin Secuaz: https://www.chess.com/clubs/forum/view/joined-in-a-team-match-but-didnt-get-games-what-to-do. Now let's talk about the main topic. There are 10 matches currently active in which we're winning 6 of them. We're doing fairly well. Besides, yesterday we got our second victory, against AnimeCrowd. The first one was the match we played against The Farm. Some players have lost their game because of time. It's a pity since I'm sure those players could've won their games. Hence, please don't forget to check your games every day (or every two days). The daily games last for about 20 days, so if you ain't sure you'll be at home with a stable connection, don't play and wait until you're at home or you're sure you have a good connection. In any case, I'd like to congrats you all. New matches are coming, be ready. Just a little meme, ignore it.
Dear Members, As you know, you find our club matches here: https://www.chess.com/clubs/matches/club-coronacion However, several of the members have recently lost their club matches on time - sometimes without a single move made in the game. This is not nice for your team mates, who might lose the entire match because one or two members abandoned their games. (The same has happened to some of our opponents, too, but that's not our concern - we get the victories for free whenever one of our opponents forgets his games.) To avoid this, here are some tips: - Join club matches only when you intend to play them till the end. - Visit your settings and switch on the alert when time is running out. You can get a reminder to your e-mail when there are 7 hours left. - If you use the mobile phone app, just look at it once a day. You see there how much time you have left for the games that expire first. - If you are going offline for several days, go to your settings, daily chess settings, and switch on "vacation". That way, you don't lose your games on time. (However, in some tournaments, this option is not there, and if you disappear for days, you lose your games regardless of the vacation setting. You see in the tournament info if this is the case.) - If you think you've lost the game and you want to give up, use "resign", that's much more polite at your opponent than abandoning the game. Try to avoid losing club matches on time! Thank you, and good games!
