Hello all, my name is Richard, I live in Central Florida. I have lived here since before Disney World opened and have lived in my current home for 34 years with my wife of 35 years. Been playing chess off and on for about 50 years now (man, Bobby Fischer got so many of us interested in chess). I have only gotten serious in the last 10 years, really tried to improve in the last 5.

I play both here and at Lichess (both user names are rsava).

Looking forward to playing more games with the SOP, hopefully we can have a good group and have regular games, perhaps even a league.

Cheers!

Hey everyone, my name is Bryce, I live in Southern California with my black Bombay cat named Bailey, and have been playing chess since 2019. I run a YouTube channel called Chess-U-See which is focused on my chess learning, computer vs. computer games, and occasionally livestreams!

I got my Square Off Pro board on December 16th, 2021, and am really enjoying it! Hopefully, we can connect and Square Off against one another very soon!

Good luck in your chess endeavors!

Hey folks,

My name is Dave. I live in NW Ohio. I've been a chess player most of my life but never really made enough of a study of it to get very good. I never belonged to any clubs. I mostly just played impromptu games with friends and my brothers growing up (we never used clocks) and then I purchased (back in the 80s) a now vintage RadioShack 1650 chess computer which still works and can kick my butt on the mid to higher levels.

I'm just very recently getting back into the game after probably 20 to 30 years (yeah I'm old) and really making a concerted effort to improve with all of these wonderful resources now available via the internet and connected e-boards like the SOP which I'm having a blast with. Even my wife has taken an interest and plays occasionally although she's very new.

I am on Lichess and of course Square Off username NickelPlate. Looking forward to playing with you folks, learning and making new friends.

My name's Kevin and I'm originally from CA, now living in Toledo, OH. I got into chess 2 times before (once in grade school along with a friend where we went to a couple tournaments), then again in high school where me and the boys would casually play late-night games at Denny's on Friday/weekend nights And now got back into it during this QG/YT/Pogchamps "chess renaissance," with the intent of focusing more on improving with the little amount of free time adult life has to offer. Looking forward to fun/exciting games, meeting new players, and growing as a chess player!

Hello chess friends. My name is Adrian, I am from Bucharest, Romania, I am 40 years old.
I started playing chess about a year ago, inspired (like many others) by the movie Queen's Gambithappy.png
I'm a beginner, my rating on chess.com is around 1050elo. I only played rapid 10 minutes, but with the new board i switched to 15 minutes.
I received a square off pro on December 23rd. I've played a few games and I'm super excited about the new game board.
I can't wait to play together.

Hello Everyone,

My name is Mark, and I live in Idaho.  I have played chess for a long time, but only occasionally, and very sporadically through the years (yes, I am old).  I am really just a blunder prone beginner who would like to get better.  I just ordered my SOP through House of Chess - delivery is scheduled for Thursday, 1/20, and I can't wait!  I look forward to learning and growing as a chess player!

Hi everyone

My name is Keny, from minneapolis! I learned how to move around the chess pieces at somepoint throughout childhood but probably played less than 25 games my entire life, until recently. I started playing avidly about 6 months ago, probably have 1500 games under my belt now. Safe to say I'm addicted now and am always looking for new ways to consume chess. I recently got the GKS. Would be awesome if we got a discord going!

Hello All,

My name is Dane.  I am from Michigan.  Learned chess when I was young, but just the basics, not tactics or strategy.  Getting back into chess after more then 30 years.  Just really got started...only played a few games OTB in person with some friends.  In the meantime, reading books, and using lessons from Chess.com.  I am a tech geek, and went overboard...picked up the DGT Centaur, the Square Off Pro, and the DGT Pegasus arrives today.  Really looking forward to getting some games on Chess.com soon.  I don't expect to become a GM or even a M, just want to have fun, have a challenge, and hopefully get to a decent ELO.

Hello! Saludos!

My name is Mario Lacunza, Lima - Perú, 51 years old, 1 son.. still married :-D I'm a software  Engineer.

I start playing chess at 11 years old, an old friend of mine returned my chess set and at that time we played a game, since then I have not stopped playing Chess. But in my country I can´t live like a professional chess player so I need to do something else. I never stop playing in parks, with friends, reading books, etc.

COVID: looked down in my home for months... I start playing online again in ICCF and I discovered this site and LiChess and the old friend ChessBase...

I wish the best to all of you!

Les deseo lo mejor!

Saludos / Best regards!

Hi, I go by Chanel.  I'm in my early 40's, married and have one child still at home.

In 2021, I began homeschooling my child and we chose to continue for a 2nd year (private school).  At times, we travel for educational purposes, go hiking, and go on fieldtrips (and I take a break from chess lol).

Fortunately, homeschooling offers a lot of flexibility, so I'm able to play online chess games and study chess throughout the day.  It's been especially nice to have the time to go and play OTB (over-the-board) chess with a local group during the week.

After almost two years of playing chess online, I've discovered that playing in person is much more difficult than online.  That being said, I'm looking forward to using the SOP for "face-to-face" games to reduce OTB challenges.  Also, I'd really like get more experience playing with a board in general, so if anyone would like to play an unrated game with SOP, lmk.

Looking to use SOP?  Feel free to send a message, I'm typically logged in throughout the day! : )
