i would like to be better...

Avatar of Greckoboi

I'm Greckoboi, from midwest United States. I hover around 1600 rapid and am looking to get more elo than that. I like reading books about chess and will read them. I am planning on making a repertoire, and mainly focus on tactics and endgames. My biggest strength is strategy and planning, but tactics are what's holding me back and I believe they are bad for my elo. My main goal is to become a tournament player once I get into college, so I need to well round myself with openings, tactics, and endgames. I like Queens Gambit, love the Valencian Scandinavian (3...Qd8), and I hate playing a lot so most days I only play 1-2 rapid games and often none.

Hello, I am a human being who loves chess. I am 1

years old. I have been playing for about 3 years. I also have many other hobbies such as speed cubing and soccer. I am around 650 rapid Elo, and I play the caro and d4 c4 stuff. My goal is to reach 700 rapid by the end of the year, and 1100 by the end of 2025. While I have never been to an otb tournament I plan to go to one in the future.

Hi everyone! I'm SUPER excited about this I'm an NM, chess fanatic, and staff member. As a fairly busy dad, I don't have a lot of time to study so I want to keep my goals realistic but meaningful for me.

* I'd like to earn the Life Master title. I need about 30 more games in USChess without dropping under 2200. Not sure I can do it in 20025, but we'll see!

* I'd like to reach 2600 in Blitz on Chess.com. I peaked around 2570 last year (but have dropped back quite a bit) so I think it's at least possible for me

* I'd like to actually find a good opening for Black against 1.d4 that I like and is sound! Apologies to The Dutch - it's just not holding up these days 😭

Hi everyone! I'm 15 and I live in the US. My chess journey began in November 2022 when my good friend invited me to chess.com. I knew the basics of chess, but I never really had such a great interest in it. My ratings began at around 300 (which at that time I thought was good, lol). Little by little, I worked my way up. Eventually I hit 500, then 1000, then 1500, and still today, my ratings are ever increasing. All of my main standard chess rating are past 1500. At this point, I have even beat masters. My main goals for 2025 are:

  • Reaching 2100+ Bullet
  • Getting better at memorizing good openings
  • Improving speed and efficiency
  • Beating a GM
  • Reaching a 875+ Play streak (I already almost have reached 500 (493))
  • Reaching 1500+ Puzzle Battle rating
  • Reaching 1750+ Blitz rating
  • Reaching 1700+ Rapid rating

I think I may be good at chess, but every game I play, I learn that I have still a lot to learn.

Hello 👋 everyone! My name is Marc and I learned to play first from my dad when I was 6-7 years old. We both weren’t any good but it was an important bonding activity between my father and I. I’m now 32 ( the years fly!) and I started back this April randomly one day after seeing a YouTube video. This was my first time playing daily chess ever and I became hooked quickly 😂. I started out at a 600-700 level and have improved to 1180 currently. I hope to hit 1500 strength this year. I enjoy Chessable a lot and especially puzzle courses there. I’m very grateful to be part of this community and looking to make friends as I travel for work IRL so it makes playing OTB chess a bit harder. Thanks so much for reading!

Hello, ive been playing chess for about three or four years very on and off, looking to get consistent and get up to 1800 rapid and blitz by the end of 2025, currently sitting at 1200-1300 depending on the day, with an all time high of 1360, wish me luck guys. learning openings to improve like the Vienna and caro kann, and maybe the ruy Lopez sometimes soon.

Hello everyone, I normally use the app so I just now saw this. I've been playing since I was a child but never had a club or team near me. Didn't learn until online chess really started taking off in 2011. Been trying to get good on and off since then. I'm better than I ever have been but I want to hit 1300 by the end of 2025. My short term goal would be to beat my puzzle record of 33 and get my blitz to 1000.

Hey everyone! You all have such beautiful goals and I hope your hard work pays off in attaining them. I've been playing since February 2004 and started while in high school. I'm entering the new year in the low 2100s (though I peaked in early 2024 in the low 2300s) in online rapid and would like to hit 2350 this year. But more importantly, I'd like to raise my annual floor from 2100 into the high 2100s or low 2200s.
As for otb, I enter the year at 1980 USCF (up from 1800 at the start of the year) and would like to hit 2125 to put me in position to hit NM in 2026. Best of luck to all in striving for excellence and improvement. Stay positive!

Hello Fellow Improvers, My Name is Rylan, I'm quite excited to join you all with the goals of improving our chess skills, I'm a 14 year old, who is in middle school and in the 8th grade. I've discovered chess around 4 to 5 years ago between mid 2019 to early 2020.

This was thanks to my uncle who came to move in with me and my family, from all the way from California. But I later lost interest of chess, as during my late elementary years, and early to mid middle school year I decided to focus on more of my academics rather than playing chess, and other usual activities I do.

But as of 2023 to now (Dec of 2024) I want to take the passion to learn the skills, and tactics of OTB/Online chess, by studying with actual chess books, and hopefully eventually start taking lessons from chess masters.

And maybe even play National OTB Rated Games for the first time in the upcoming year.

(This Hopefully also includes me to also start the Road to get NM Title in 2026/2027)

My Rating Goals for each Time based Ratings (Other than Daily) is to reach 1500 elo

Daily: 1200

For Puzzles: 2200+

Avatar of Eegaara

Hello, i started playing two years ago already in my 30s and last month i finally reached my original goal, that is 2000 rapid. This gave me the opportunity to set new goals for 2025, that is reaching 2200 rapid and start playing otb. I am currently looking for training partners at similar level and with similar or even greater ambitions, to train different parts of the game in a more focused way.

Good day! My name is Colleen and I'm trying to figure out how the Improvers challenge works. I am in the 850 range and I play online as well as OTB. My goal this year is to reach 1200. I can dream, right? I know it takes work.

Yooooooooooo

I'm Dan or Dani. Played chess decades ago as a kid and teenager, but never anything serious. Just games with friends and such. Signed up a few weeks ago and so far have fallen hard for the game and want to learn as much as possible over the coming year. Ratings are low, but if I can hit 1000 within 12 months I'd be extremely happy.

I'm Andy,

Played for along time and 1900 is an aim f9r me.next year and I'll try studying more and playing more and learning more tricks in openings I play

Hey there! I'm Ryan. High school student who started chess during the pandemic as a hobby. I've loved the game since, and I have been trying really hard to improve my rating over the course of a few years. Up to my first year of high school, time hasn't been my friend, and I believe that my chess abilities have taken a considerable dip. I'm hoping to play more chess in 2025 by sharpening my tactical play, refining my positional play, and becoming more confident in my opening repertoire (which I don't have a consistent one still 😅).
