Hi everyone, my name's Greg and I'm only a few months into trying to actually improve and play chess at higher level. My long term goal is to reach a 2000 rating on here or at least improve enough to build enough confidence in my game and chess knowledge to try my hand at a OTB tournament. Until then I am hoping to improve my calculation skill, my ability to find the best move at any given moment, and to improve my ability to envision what my opponent is trying to do instead playing as if I am the only one on the board which is a bad habit I currently have. I'd also like to figure out how to quit letting myself get tunnel vision on one certain position which causes me to not only miss tactics and overlook better moves, but causes stupid blunders and missing my opponents intentions leading to lost games. Anyhow, that's about what I'm after for the time being, I welcome and appreciate any help offered. Y'all have a good one.
Introduce Yourself and Your Goals!

Hi everyone!
It's really nice to be here with all of you
My name is Mat, and I've been playing lots of chess since COVID started. I recently joined an in-person club and I have an over-the-board rating of around 1500 in semi-rapid games. My objective in 2025 is to increase that rating to 1700. I would love to find a training partner that is available to exchange ideas and play, ideally in the Eastern Time Zone.
Wishing you all an amazing holiday break with your loved ones and families.
Best,
Mat

Hi! I'm Carlos, I'm an engineering student from Chile. Started playing chess around 2 or 3 months ago after I had a serious accident, before that I knew how to move the pieces but didn't know castling even existed haha. It was the only thing I could do while in bed and got obsessed.
I'm currently around 930 rapid and my goal is to reach 1600 rapid next year.
Greetings!!
I definitely am hoping to solidify my current opening knowledge and the continue to expand. I would love to finally cross the 1000 mark on chess.com, maybe even pushing up to 1200 (I want to aim high - currently 966).
I think my middle game is easily the part of the game I want to improve the most on. Making plans and following through. I also know that I can do a better job making use of my pawns. Plus, my son is beginning to improve in his chess journey and would love to be able to pick up anything more that I can to impart to him.

Hi Everyone, I've played chess since I was young and have recently been getting my 3 and 5 year old into chess. My wife has gotten more into it as well. I'm hoping to get to 1800 in rapid this next year! I would also like to get into some OTB tournaments and games this year again!

Hi! I am 19 now. I learned to play at 15. I am rated about 1500. I would say chess has saved my life. It has given me a passion to focus on while I work on healing from depression. I don't think that there's anything I love more than this game. I've been at the same rating for a while. I love learning about chess, so I'm hoping that I can find the correct way to study for my rating.

Hi everyone! I am 21, and I want to somehow break 2800 blitz rating because I have been able to peak 2700-ish beating some good players on my good day. Also, my FIDE rating is of interest to me, so I focus on gaining a 100 points. Currently, I have 2000-ish FIDE rating in all time controls.

what's good guys my name is Cocoa, a musician from the Philippines. started playing chess casually around 2 years ago!
goals for 2025 are to level up my blitz from 900 -> 1300 & my rapid from 1100 - 1600.
cheers! hope we get to play each other

Hello everyone, my name is Pablo, I am 16 years old and have been playing chess since I was 12. I don't have any FIDE ratings although I have played 2 OTB tournaments, got 2nd place in the most recent one [November 2024]. My goal is to reach 2400 blitz by 2025 and maybe 2300 bullet. I am also developing my own gambit's theory, for the memes.
I enjoy playing with anyone, if you want to have some games, share insights or ideas, solve puzzles on discord, etc, send a req, my door is always open for improvement :]

Heya! My name is Elias (it’s a fake name, though). I got into chess in the pandemic, and discovered chess.com on 2022 (on an account that has since been closed by my own action). I’m aiming to improve my Daily and Rapid ratings to 1500, and my Puzzles to 1200, this 2025! Even though I’m not as passionate about the game as I was before, I still enjoy it.

Hey everyone, I'm Tyler and I'm from Ohio. I'm 22 and in school, and getting ready to play in my first rated OTB tournament in a few months! I'm about 1000 in rapid, so I expect to preform poorly but ready to get my foot in the door!

Hi all, I am Gagan Deep, from India. I played some chess as a child and then resumed it again two years ago. I went from 1000 to 1750 on chesscom in these two years, improving with a lot ups and downs. My goals for the next year are to be 2000 chesscom, as well as take part in an over the board tournament.

Hi Everyone! I'm Ecylin, I started playing chess when I was in elementary/primary school, and am currently around 1200 in my rating.
I'm hoping to reach 1500 rating by the end of the year and work a lot more on my middle-game. If people have suggestions on how to improve I'm all ears

Let me go first! 😊 I’m Ayelen Martinez, a chess player from Argentina, now living in Barcelona. Thanks to my dad and brother, I’ve played chess since I was 5. After beating them, I competed in tournaments, reaching a 2271 peak ELO (though that feels like a past life—I don’t play like that anymore, haha). Later, I coached beginners, including blind players, who were my favorites!
Since 2019, I’ve focused on streaming and organizing events for our online chess community. Chess is my lifelong passion, and I’m happy to share it with you all!
For the 2025 Chess Improvement Challenge, I want to level up my bullet, blitz skills, and tactics—my latest obsessions! My goal is to boost my bullet and blitz rating by 100 points and keep a tactics streak all year. Let’s see how it goes! 😂"
Nice! I am Sparsh of House Maheshwari, First of my name, I am gonna beat Magnus Carlsen in my dreams.
I've played chess nearly on and off for nearly 30 years. I'd like to become a USCF rated expert some day but I know that the process is going to be challenging. Rating wise, I'd like to get my USCF rating to 1775, hit 1800+ in chess.com rapid and 1500-1600 in chess.com blitz. My priorities are going to be my chess.com rapid and then my USCF ratings. I don't mind if I meet my goal in blitz as long as my work in that area helps me improve my overall skills.
Skills wise, which is where my focus is going to be, I have multiple goals.
1)I want to improve my endgame technique and strategy to a point where I don't give away half points during OTB events due to my lack of confidence in converting an advantage in a short amount of time.
2)I want to develop my calculation skills so that I'm less lazy and overly reliant on my intuition.
3)I want to develop some stability in my opening repertoire. I'm falling into the trap of trying too many things as black.
4)I want to find my identity as a player. After a rough tournament, my confidence has taken a huge hit and to put it simply, I feel lost.
