Hi! I am Booplord. I am a 24 year old adult improver. I casually played chess on and off as a kid. I became serious about improving in 2021 and I have been playing ever since. In 2023, I had a peak rapid rating of about 1530 before I stopped playing for a year because life got in the way. Now I am playing again with a rapid rating in the 1350-1400 range. This year, I want to surpass my old peak rating and hopefully go beyond it. My main rating goal is between 1800-2000 in both rapid and blitz. I am always down for advice, coaching, and training games if you are!

Good luck and I hope you achieve your goals!

Christy. Played as a kid but never did anything serious enough to get a rating, came back a year ago as an adult with an eye to learning more about the game. I am now 36 and up to the high 1300s in Daily and rapid. The aim is to hopefully get to 1800 rapid. Maybe 1k blitz but I am ok not doing great.
For this I want to start by seriously studying a few openings to get the grips of learning. I know them a bit and they should be the easiest place to start before moving onto the likely more serious elements of the middle and end game.

Hi I'm Anna my dad who is also in the club (@taurusmale67) taught me how to play chess and we are both around 1200-1300 rating. We have both joined after a wager was set who would improve most. My goals obviously firstly is to win the wager but I would also like to learn new things get better and take my rating upwards to say 1600-1800.

Kia Ora from Aotearoa/Hello from New Zealand :-).

I am Brian but go by the moniker jaherad. I am now 63 and just returned to chess about 2 years ago.

I was obsessed with chess in High School, even becoming school chess champion by fluking a win over a much better player. I remember playing a regional speed chess tournament where the time control was 30 seconds per move. If you hadn't made your move in 30 seconds you lost. This was in about 1975 and a bell was going off every 30 sec as there were no chess clocks lol. Remember getting my queen trapped on h8 to this day lol. That rook was SOOO tasty lol.

I got back to about 1275 elo in rapid, but have concentrated on Daily for the last year to work on my openings. Almost 1500 in Daily now working a system I developed, but don't think it will get anyone past about 1500 (though I think it will get anyone to 1500 lol).

I am rather obsessive and have spent an inordinate amount of time over the last 12 months reviewing variations; and have managed to get to a stage where I am now playing 150 daily games simultaneously. I may need psychological help lol.

My goal is to ween myself of daily and get back to rapid. Using the private Chessable courses I have created to learn any lines that haven't already become habit and get to 1500 rapid.

If anyone would like to colab, beta test, make suggestions etc, any input or reviews or assistance would be much appreciated.

The reason I don't think my system would work much past 1500 is that it basically ignores theory and relies more on pattern recognition. I assume that to get past 1500 you had better know your theory pretty well.

Hello,

You can call me Jamal, I am 12 years old, my ratings are 1100 in rapid and 890 in blitz and 800 in bullet. My goals are to reach 1600 in rapid and 1200 in blitz. My puzzle rating is 1400. I watch and learn in Youtube and improved a lot from when I started in 2023.

I was never able to beat my brother in a game of chess because he took actual classes unlike me but I have beat him once, my goal is also to beat him at least once more.

This is my first club that I joined in chess.com and I hope to improve a lot from this club.

Hi Improvers,

I'm Mohamed, and I started this account about a week ago. My current ratings don’t truly reflect my skills or potential in chess because I believe I can achieve a lot in this beautiful game.

My goal is to surpass 2000 Elo in all three categories: Rapid, Blitz, and why not Bullet. By focusing on minimizing mistakes during games and learning new concepts every day, I’m confident I can reach these goals within six months.

I’m excited to see how far I can go. Thank you all for this opportunity!

Hello everyone!
I am Elena from Germany. I played chess since I was a kid for fun. For about a year I started playing chess in our local chess club and wanting to improv from about 700-800 in rapid. I am currently just over 1200 which was my goal from last year. I want to improve further this year and I am very excited to see how far I can go.

Hey I know this is kind of odd but Id like to add regardless, I am currently a 2100 rated player on chess.com and 1900 on fide. I've been playing chess since around the age of 7 with a major return roughly 4 years ago, I'm currently 17 years old and wondering if the title of International Master is still in the cards for me, I realize it's not an easy feat and have heard from several people that even a lifetime of training might not be enough to reach your desired title, (such in the case of Levy for example). however I would like to seriously consider whether this is a dream I should allocate more of my recourses to, or just let go and accept that whilst I may be good, IM just isn't an option.

Avatar of dragonvan

In the last 4 years, did you play a tournament OTB in the classical time? Do you have some Fide rated tournament in your area?

If yes, do you feel if having the title of Candidate Master or FIDE Master would be a first feel good step to try to reach that goal of being an International Master.

Of course, don't register to a tournament if exams are what eat your brain energy.

Avatar of Fellow-Canadian

I just received an established fide rating and whilst there aren't too many tournaments in my area I can try to attend a few tournaments. I still have roughly a year and a half to prepare for my finals, so chess can still be a priority for the next 2 years and even whilst I'm in uni. I strongly believe that both Candidate and master are titles I can acquire in the near future but the IM title is somewhat of a dream of mine that I at some point would like to fulfill.

Hello everyone !

I am Ben, in my 30, and I came to love the game of chess in the past 2 years.
I knew how to play since I was in elementary school, I never really got to play actively until my adulthood, although it was not that active as I could not play and learn a lot of chess while going to university and starting my professional career.
Now more settled, in 2023, I started going to a local club playing rapid OTB tournaments, and began playing in some daily tournaments on chess.com.
The local club uses its own internal rating, where I am about 1400. My rating on chess.com at the start of the year is around 1000 in each time control, except daily, which is around 1500.

My goals for 2025 are:
1. Get my chess.com rapid rating to 1500
2. Play in at least 1 OTB Classical tournament
3. Have an official rating from the Chess Federation of Canada
4. Continue to learn every week

Somehow modest goals, but I will set higher goals if I can get there more quickly.

I wish for all of you to have fun while improving this year !

My name is Will and I love playing chess! I started playing chess about 2-3 years ago. Now that I know the game and know lots of tactics. I want to improve on openings as white but most importantly, defenses with black. I started to learn the caro kan and want to add on to openings similar with the caro kan but different variations. I also want to learn more about the middle game. Happy improving!

Hi, chess lovers!
I'm Artem, in my mid 20s, building career in finance, but most importantly I play chess.
I started my path in 2019 while I was studying in university. Currently I have 1900+ rating in blitz and here are my goals for 2025:
1. Reach 2000 rating points in blitz (just as a peak would be nice, but I hope to reach the 2000+ plateau)
2. Play some OTB tournaments (1 is already finished and I got 2nd place)
3. Finish almost all my courses in Chessable (now ~3000 variations are still waiting for me)
4. To grow as content creator (I stream twice a week and video is coming every other day on my youtube channel; hope to become chess com streamer one day, it's more than a community streamer; by the way I share ALL of my thoughts in my games, even on daily games with my audience, they can't help me but still I find it really interesting to hear other players thought on different positions)
5. To become a part of improvers community (currently I'm answering some questions on Ask Coach/Ask Community forum)
Hope my goals haven't become messy because of my additional comments
Wish everyone great and productive year!

I started playing chess in 2020. I was playing one of those "2 player games" mobile games that has like 30 games in it, and one of them was chess. Me and my friend didn't know chess so we would just move the pieces randomly and randomly someone won. Both of us studied chess' rules afterwards. Since then, I started playing it a lot, and my peak on 2023 was 900 blitz and 800 rapid. By 2023 I was the best player at my school (9th grade). I even got to teach younger students there. By the 2nd semester of 2023, I started losing motivation towards the game. In 2024 I started high school and there I met a guy who brought me back to chess. Since then, I started studying more seriously, played two official (rapid) tournaments, and got from 800 to 1200 rapid. I hope to get to 1500 in 2025, as well as 1200 in blitz, I'm currently 800.
