The microwave oven otherwise known as microwave was invented around 1945-1946 by Percy Spencer while he was working at Raytheon. He was experimenting with radar equipment and he had a Mr. Goodbar candy bar in his pocket. The candy bar melted. He found out the magnetron tube melts chocolate. He then experimented with popcorn and then an egg. Then he experimented with other foods.

Then the Microwave oven was patented on October 8, 1945.Raytheon produced the Radarange its first Microwave oven in 1947 and it was the first Microwave oven available for commercial use. But it did cost way too much for the average American to buy and was very bulky and heavy. The price was nearly $5,000 and it almost weighed 800 pounds

That was the time, when microwave was sold for $5000, now you get in $200 and less.
