Because people ragequit the site for a while if they lost their streak. It took the focus of chess, ykws?

I know there was a previous streaks feature, but I'm not sure what was tracked.
This is what was decided on for the current version.

I never could see my daily login streak, and I have been on chess.com for 2 years
I don't think they ever had one

Will the streak count be visible to other people when viewing your profile, or only visible by the user for his own profile? I know it isn't fully rolled out yet, but I'm not seeing streaks on any other users' profiles yet, even those who report having it visible to themselves.

The help article says it's public and should be available on profiles. That part may not be live yet.
