Is This Normal For Everyone?

In chess, sometimes, I feel like I play like trash and I lose a bunch of games, but other times, I actually win lots of games and play really well! Does this happen to everyone? What should I do about it, because I'm stuck at 1000 and I decided to not play rated games anymore? Let me know what you think in the comments.

Oh, boy, is it ever so! Very common! Nothing to worry about. It happens to athletes, too.

It's normal for me, too. What happens to me is that I'm not always concentrated enough. Sometimes I'm 100% focused, so I win, and sometimes I play while listening to music or with people around me, so I lose.

If you feel you are losing too much in a row, just stop playing and go to make some puzzles. Or take a break to breath.

Try to play only rated when you can be 100% focused in the game.

It's for everyone! And play rated games, this is the only way you can increase your elo. Don't fear. The best way to improve is to play games.

Yes that happens to everyone. The important thing that I've learned is that don't play chess when you're upset or angry or don't really feel like playing. I used to lose rating points cause I did this. Or once you starting losing a few games I'd say 3 more just stop playing for the day. Cause what happens is you just get more and more upset which causes you to play even worse. Also if your having a bad time of things just take a few day break.

Normal for me too. If feels very bad when I lose a lot of games in a row, but it is so good to play good games and win a lot. Just try to be the best you can. Good luck!

I think I'll just play unrated matches. I don't care about ELO. To me, chess is about having fun and learning and not stressing yourself to the point of insanity considering you get like 7 ELO every time you win.

Umm, if you play unrated, you can always win!

Cyrosion1

Play rated if you lose two games in a row or lose one game after a winstreak call it quits for the day, but if you want to improve you will only do that under the pressure of rated games
