I agree with your post. In staying humble, and always try to be honest and humble and all the fruits of the Spirit as explained in His Word, is the best guidance for us all. But what now when we stand at fault, and in telling the truth will mean arguments and causing trouble for you or me? It is not always easy to tell the truth.
So the first step I would say, is accepting our mistake. Repent, by praying and telling God look, here is the thing. I messed up, and I feel guilty and or ashamed. Please help me and guide me to come clean.
Here is a valuable tool Jesus gave us. His blood. Pure forgiveness, not red slaughter blood, but pure full of love and tenderness. We can plead His blood over those people we have to deal with. Lord, I plead the blood of Jesus over this person (by name), please send Your peace out to him, and please soften their heart to me, so when I talk with them about what I had done, they would find it in them to forgive me and accept me and forgive me.
See it as an egg shell, where the Blood softens the shell, and the peace can get inside. Then the love of Jesus can work in them and resolve the issue, and things can start to get better. The act of repentance does not mean what you have done is accepted or everything is okay now, it is a start to resolve the problem you have caused in doing wrong. Yes each situation will be different, but try and use this method and by inviting Lord Jesus into the situation, He will strengthen you and other parties involved.
This will be growing your relationship with God and change you in being careful not doing wrong. Pray for your enemies, even if you caused them to be enemies. Bless them, by praying God please bless this person or those people. Blessed are those that blesses others.
May God strengthen you in living a pure life. Jesus said be holy, because I am holy. When you are a child of God, you are holy. And you are never alone. You have the fullness of God on your side, believe it.
Thoughts:
The difference between living according to evidential facts and proof, or faith, is that living by faith reveals the truth of what and why a person acts!
To paraphrase, Clay Jones, who mentioned something like this in his book, “Why God allows evil.” If you knew you would or could be caught if you did something you wanted to do, that was wrong or evil, even in your own eyes. Would not doing it be because of our morals, or fear of getting caught? It would appear to be the same restraint by the conduct, but they would be for different reasons.
Given the opportunity, when we believe we can do something without being caught, it reveals our hearts for who we are. Our restraint in the face of opportunity shows we say no to evil. Men love darkness because our deeds are evil, which makes sense if we like doing things without fear of getting caught.
So, it proves the scripture that tells us those who are just will live by faith! Even given the opportunity, we will restrain ourselves by living in righteousness as best we can. We believe and put our faith in the Lord God of heaven and earth, who helps shape our lives by obeying His Word, statutes, and precepts.
He forgives us as we ask Him to when we acknowledge our faults and repent when needed; that, too, is walking in the light, being honest, and not trying to hide who or what we are. In our weaknesses, He is strong. The safest place to be is with the God who loves us, who became one of us so that he could take our guilt onto Himself and pay for our sins.
