I duck down and tackle him

Chessnerd ducks down and leaps straight at pin, aiming for his legs to knock him to the floor.

I put my legs on his arms to try and hold them down, then I keep strangling

How awkward would that be? He's already going to punch you, you can't use your legs to stop that from happening. He hits you straight in the face. You can retreat or continue the strangle.
