There's a DAMN ADVERTISING THREAD for a reason, people.
It's getting really frustrating to see this every day.
It's more important to have fun with the players you have than to get new ones.
I agree wholeheartedly.

The good thing about being big and the original is the self advertising that comes with it. The others don’t have that privledge
I'm feeling quite trigger-happy with the graphs, so here's another one. This time, we're comparing the number of days that a KOTL has existed (the x-axis) against how many posts the KOTL has (the y-axis).
Here is a graph that actually makes a little bit of sense. According to the line of best fit, now in a shiny red color, with every day that passes, the average KOTL will gain 38.984 posts, because this is the slope of the line. We can then infer that the "average" ppd across all KOTLs as of right now works out to around 38.984 ppd. Of course, the line of best fit also tells us that a KOTL starts out with negative 1575 posts, but that's kind of how it goes.
Time has a decently strong correlation with posts. According to the r^2 value, 21.8% of a thread's size is due to simply how long it lasts. A word to the impatient: it really does take a little patience and take a little time to get big.
Of course, this does mean that 79.2% of a thread's size is due to other factors. Having quality content, consistency, and a decent playerbase are all just as if not more important as how long it's been around. However, these factors are a lot more difficult to measure and quantify.
I suppose that's all I have to say for now. Thanks for reading!
what qualifies as exceptionally high ppd?
I suppose having 40 to 50 ppd is pretty high, especially if you've been around for over a week. There is currently only one KOTL that both has more than 5000 posts and currently has over 50 ppd.

...I think you MIGHT be miscounting a bit.
Wow. That's a lot of wooooords. Great analysis though!
Not anything more than what you do for the Directory.

Overall ppd. So far, the only one there is the Bad KOTL. Is there another that I missed? The 5k club alone has only five members.

...Doesn't the original KOTL have like a 150 ppd?

There are two KOTLs with more than 5000 posts and 50 ppd.
What does overall ppd mean? 50 posts every single day no breaks?
Never mind, you are right. I am just not smart.
The black line of best fit shows how the "average" thread would behave. The line of best fit claims that for every post a KOTL gains, it should also have an increase of 0.007 ppd. This doesn't really make a lot of sense, and in fact the correlation is very weak, with an r value of 0.06.
The Flipside and Kind of the Ladder of those two points off to the side. The Bad KOTL and the Fun KOTL are those two points way up high.
I think the most interesting thing we've found here is that there is no KOTL with both exceptionally high posts and exceptionally high ppd. The road to popularity, therefore, does not seem to be massive, eye-popping ppds, but rather a consistency over a long period of time.
