It’s your adblocker causing problems.
My AdBlock plus on chrome causes no problems.
Regarding browsers crashing or failing on chess.com - the list of possible causes would be long.
Chess.com is a very busy server. So a tuned computer or phone helps.
Now some will use a fancy term 'client side' to refer to an idea that its the user's 'fault'.
I wouldn't put it that way myself.
Its simply - does whatever member want to improve their system and performance or not?
People often get annoyed when tips are given to improve performance.
But the staff and moderators here usually just say 'clear browser cache'.
Its actually 'clear browsing data' on chrome though.
And if all boxes aren't checked under both basic and advanced and 'for all time' then it isn't cleared.
Right?
Most people don't want to do a clean reinstall of their browser either.
Regarding Chrome settings (or Edge) it can take 20 minutes to go through all the settings and make sure everything's tuned and streamlined.
Want 'motion sensors'?
Now if anybody recommends anything and it doesn't work or causes whoever's system to crash then that person isn't going to be pleased.
So what some do is just say what they do to keep their system tuned up.
Or talk about what doesn't work.
I've seen people complain who
1) never log out
2) never restart or shut down their computer or phone
3) never update windows
4) have multiple browser windows open
5) never clear the browsing data
6) never delete other junk files
7) never turn off or disable a whole bunch of things they're not using anyway.
Many are told:
'Don't mess with your system. Don't turn anything off.
Don't pop the hood.'
Software companies love that.
Regarding at the member account end of things ...
I used to get 100 alerts a day.
So I untracked a whole bunch of things.
Left clubs I wasn't using.
There's a default thing here which causes members to follow everyone on their friend's list.
I don't believe in that.
I wouldn't want to follow somebody without their permission.
So I make sure I'm not automatically 'following'.
All that stuff has Got to be using bandwidth and affecting computer/phone performance on the website.

What's happening? My browser doesn't work in chesscom? I could hardly start a game. I'm saddled with abandonment charges as if it's all my fault? Some other sites I could even play hyperbullet!
