So often, when I play with lower rating people (no offense), they tend to sometimes give away material. Whenever you want to bring up a trade, always see if it's a good move

Offering trades that lose pieces are mostly always bad, but sometimes, there could be some kind of trap... but let's get into it in another lesson

Don't forget about the pieces you're protecting... try keeping in mind which piece is being attacked, and try to add more defenses before offering a trade like the example above.
How to prepare for trades (if you want to)
Ex 3:
In this example, just like Ex 2, black wants to trade off the knights. But before that happens, you should prepare first. After adding defense to the pawn once again, black is able to get an outpost with their knight, also offering a trade.
