Yes, im completly new to this... I already have all the dice i need. I have the AD&D 2nd edition handbook. I want to create a Gnome.
Let's Help Rumple

First, Rumple, I love your enthusiasm, but you're going to confuse the the hell out of yourself. In chess, you have to learn how the pieces move before you can understand the Queen's Gambit.
The handbook you have is 2nd edition. The character generator you used is 3rd edition. Mixing editions like this means that you have to modify one or the other to be consistent with each other. Doing this requires a good understanding of the rules.
The character that the generator provided you will not work in a 2nd edition game. In 2nd edition, Paladins have to be Lawful Good. In 3rd edition, they can be any alignment. In 2nd edition, Druids have to be Neutral.
Also, the character has several classes: Druid, Paladin and Ranger. The rules for running a character that has more than one class are different from 3rd and 2nd editions.
So I think we need to start with choosing an edition and going with just that one edition until you are familiar with it.
I love 2d edition. The rules of 2d edition are (I believe) more complex than 3rd.
If you choose to continue 1st or 2d edition, I can personally help you out a lot. If you chose 3rd edition and so forth, I can't help you nearly as much.
So I think that's where we need to start. Once you have decided which edition you want to use, we then study the Player's handbook for that edition. It is best that you study from chapter 1 forward and don't skip around, or again, you'll be confused.
I don't want to drive you from the game (it's great fun, but complex) but I also want you to enjoy the game, and that will be hard to do if you confuse yourself!

hehehe... ok :D... im readin the first chapter, im readin about rolling the dice and givin my character the str and everything else... i have not rolled the dice yet, i will wait for my friends. i think is better if we do it togheder :D... by the way, im gonna use the 2nd edition AD&D :P...

Okay. On that same site I gave you are character sheets you can download nad print. That will help you in generating a character. These are the same character sheets I use in my games, so I will know exactly what you are looking at.

perfect!... i just hang up with my friend. He is free from work today! So maybe at noon im going to his house and start the process! :D... Im gonna send u all the info!

hehe... now i know first i have to determine all the atributes and then depending what i get i choose my race :P...

You are correct. 3d6. Whatever method you choose is fine. In my world, I allow them to roll 3d6 12 times, choose the 6 best numbers, then allow them to place the numbers where they desire. This makes it so that the odds of really good characters are high and also allows all my players to play what they want to play (which makes happier players which makes more fun games). My way is not the only way and may not be the best way for every group.

Good luck Rumpel and welcome to the group. I play 1st edition AD&D but I'll help out wherever I can. It's a great game, I was hooked after my session of play and played it nearly everyday for the next 10 - 15 years!

awsome! well, im gonna use the same edition CaptainPike use. Here in Puerto Rico the game is not popular, but i send the AD&D manual to a friend and he start reading it and he likes it, today im gonna see him and his friend and we are gonna start creating the characters. after that i let u guys know so u can help me with the next step! :P Thans all for the help!

You are in good hands. There is not a whole lot of difference between 1st and 2nd editions. Thanks for helping us, glafnazur!

After you finish with the Player's Handbook, you will need the Dungeon Master's Guide. The Dungeon Master's Guide covers material for the Dungeon Master (referee) to run the adventure: How to give out experience points, how the races get along with each other, magical items and their descriptions, potions, and a plethora of other information not covered in the player's manual.
Make sure that the material you have chosen is 2nd edition (as that is the edition you have chosen). 2nd edition material is getting harder and harder to find and the prices keep going up and up. I was actually surprised to find some that are still new when I was doing some searching for you! But, these are expensive.

Here are some downlods. I don't have to tell you to be careful with downloads; don't want to contract viruses and the like. I hate torrents, LiveWire and LimeWire. Not only do some of these download sites give you viruses and malware, but sometimes give you illegal material.

If you want me to, I'll look around. There are a couple
Hey, guys, Rumple has never played, period. He is in Puerto Rico and D&D just isn't as big there as it is here. So, he has a group of friends and he wants to play.
