Hey there. Since this is a dungeons and dragons club I was wondering how many people would be interested in starting a 5e(2014 edition lol) campaign(or a one shot I don't really care). I would be okay being the DM if we could get a group of maybe 3 or 4 people together. Or someone else could DM as well since I don't have that much experience in it. I just wanted to see if anyone here is up for something like this especially since it could be really relaxed because we could just play as much as people have time for given they could go back up in the forum and see everything that happened previously so nobody would forget what is going on.

It burrows through the earth preferring soils rich in mineral and organic content. It is often found in forests and agricutural land. It has a chitinous shell which is brownish in colour whilst its underside is pinkish. It has mandibles and glistening black eyes. If sorely pressed in battle it can squirt acid.
Over the years I have built up a small collection of model terrain to go alongside my collection of miniatures. These arrived last year from a kickstarter project I participated in.

Mine was where my sister was the DM and my 3 other friends and I were exploring a town. We had no memory of our past and strange things were happening around town. We were under some sort of house arrest in a hospital until they freed us. One of the players, a monk, walked up to the hospital to talk with someone. He pulled the door but nothing happened. He tugged and yanked the door towards him but nothing happened. Then one of the other players, a Barbadian, walks past and pushes the door open easily. That is now a inside joke to the other players of the ongoing campang. One other one in the same campang is where I (a bard) and the barbarian find out what our classes are, and since we are such good friends, we joke about being the Bard-barians (We both knew and had seen Puffen Forest) My DM sister had no idea what we were talking about so she just forgot about it, but our team is now made up by a monk, a wizard, and the terrible two's: The bard-barian!

Hi, just another D&D lover here. Was wondering of going over thoughts and ideas of getting together once every other week and playing (5e?) D&D through online means. What time and what day would work out best for you? I think it would be cool if we got together and played. Although, if you think it would not work out, do have any suggestions of online groups to join? I really want to play, but would rather play with members of this club. What are your thoughts?

I started wondering about the obvious solutions to a mystery given the context. I want to see if I'm right about what most players would think. For instance if a large number of people where dying having had their bloods sucked out in a village and the only evidence was two bite marks. Then the rich man in a huge mansion on the top of the hill would be the prime suspect probably being a vampire. That's one where the trope is obvious. I want to pose scenarios and see if you have the same thought process I would. My first example would be in a kingdom of candy. Where everybody is a different pudding (mainly candy, but also for example chocolate). "Civilians" (candies, chocolates...) start disappearing and being killed. It's obvious one kind of sweet food is attacking and killing the others (ie: dark chocolate, or gobstoppers for example). With no more information who would you suspect? Please think about the idea a little bit the read the continuation. I would suspect liquorice because they are the most naturally evil sweet food. Did you think the same? If not now that you know liquorice are present (their existence in the world for the players is known) would you have picked them? That's just an example of thought experiments, will post more when I think of them.

Welcome, just want to note that a majority of the details have a story or meaning behind them. A lot of thought and experience has gone into this. Art Style/Background. Primary style: Watercolor, penciled, realistic. Generally a darker appearance over all. Full portrait. It would be cool to have a background. Background: She is entering a dungeon area, the wall and arched doorway behind her is made of stone and it’s dark in the room. Light streams in from the doorway behind her and around her. She is a good way from the doorway, and would be centered with the doorway. Darkness conflicts with light. (Also, if you want, it would be dope to have scenes from her life scratched into the wall.) Can send the details if you want to take it on. Like it would not be heavily detailed, just simple sketches. On the left side would be her backstory, and on the right side would be scenes from adventuring.) An idea is to have the colors on her character contrast with each other. Like the very pale skin, iron armor, any silver, the brown leather, ect vs the dark brown hair, the dark colored clothing/gear, ect. Character Stance: The general appearance would be a casual stroll while in each step practicing her striking pose. Right foot forward and planted in a slight bend. The right arm is relaxed. Left foot would have the weight on the front part of the foot and the heel raised. The left arm is sticking out, and turns back in, the wrist angles in and downwards a bit. Also, the appearance that she is about to step out of the art. (The sword is not held that way or at the angle.) General details: Height, 5 foot 8 Age: 82, (Although that is still kinda young for a half elf.) Weight: 145lbs Hair color, dark brown Skin tone, very pale. Female half elf. Wood elf/human. Appearance: Physically fit. All armor and clothing have many different nicks from various battles. (Also, all images are just representations that go with the texts, they are not totally accurate.) The Aylleth insinga: Two short swords crossed. The guards of the swords are flat with an arrow at the end. Like this: <-- The guard tips on the bottom side, meet up. The grips are wrapped in cloth with gaps. The pummels are a ball and the grip inclines inward a bit, to the center of the ball. An arrow goes between the short swords. Straight through the center point of where the swords are crossed. All of this is surrounded by a drawn longbow. The arrow is nocked at the center of the string. The arrow head point is a bit below the two sword points. The first string is in the position of the drawn bow’s string. It is relatively close to the sword’s pummels. There is not much empty space. There is a second string that connects the bow’s tips. It is a straight line. Everything above the second string would look something like this: The arrow head would be like a pine tree. The base of the arrow head is like the trunk. The sword points would look like mountain tops. To the left of the left sword tip is a line like it is a part of a mountain range. To the right of the right sword tip is about the same. (Like in the drawing.) The drawn bow would look like a horizon circle, and there would be stars above the mountains and under the horizon line. (Just a bit of info on the insignia. The insignia has two strings. The first string is drawn and the second string is where it would be if it is not drawn. The second string works as a line that represents the nature of everything, the arrow is made of wood and is a pine tree, the swords are made of metal and are mountains above the line. Armor and shoulder plates: Old, weathered iron scale mail with shoulder plates. It is polished, armor is taken care of. The armor ends a bit before the elbow on the arms. The rest of the armor is of scale mail, that goes a bit above the knee caps. The bottom section of the armor is not flush, sections are torn, while some sections do go down to a bit above the knee caps. (Like in the drawing.) There is a slit in the armor below the waist in the center. Also, it’s not as tightly fitting, it fits like a dress below the waist. On the center, a bit below the collarbone is a crudely scratched Aylleth insignia that was made be a knife point. The insignia points upward. Shoulder plates: The plates curve up to the top where it starts to level into a point at the top. The top is centered with the shoulder. The top section of the plates rises in a slight incline, from the shoulder to the neck. There is a design that is expertly chiseled into the plates. An uprooted tree. The trunk is on the top side of the center of the plates and slightly rises with the incline. Roots stick out. The tree top ends a bit before the neck. Leaves fall from the tree top. At the trunk there is an arrow perpendicular with the trunk and bit away. There is a hole in the trunk that matches the length of the arrow. The arrow has lines behind it that make it look like it is in motion. The part of the trunk where the arrow was ripped out from is surrounded by splinters. (As if that part of the tree exploded from inside and the arrow was forcibly and quickly pulled from the tree by an invisible force.) The design is mirrored on the other plate. Backpack and quiver: (I’m really just describing the back pack for the heck of it, due to the stance, it really can’t be seen. The quiver and arrows appear though, along with the straps.) The dark brown backpack has two straps that go on the inner side of the shoulder plates, and right under the armpits. It is tightly fitting. The straps are adjustable. (Each strap at the top has a brass buckle that is used for hole punches in the straps. The holes are from the bottom up.) The pack has a main center pouch, the top flap is buckled shut. With a silver buckle on the front center. There are smaller compartments (pouches) around the base of the square pack, that are also buckled flaps, all of those buckles are worn brass. On the right side of the pack is a dark green quiver that is attached to the right side of the backpack. The quiver goes straight up, along the side of the backpack. The quiver top is aligned with a dirty silver band. There are 8 arrows made of birch. There are 7 arrows in the front part with these colored fletchings: one is red, dark green, and the third is dark brown. (Since those arrows are bunched together in the front. It would be cool if the fletchings were of mixed colors, yet in the middle of the bunch is a more prominent red color, on the left side would be a more prominent dark brown color and on the right side a more prominent dark green color.) The 8th arrow is tied to the back left corner and is raised above the other arrows. This arrow has all white fletchings. Cloak: Short, heather dark grey cloak. At the top center of the cloak is a loop of fabric, one end is on one side of the cloak, the other end is a bit further down from that. It’s a half circle. (Like a shirt collar was added on.) The collar goes on the right side of the neck, the cloak is mostly on the left side. The cloak covers the left shoulder, a quarter of the back, and is on the left side of the left arm, and the elbow pushes away the cloak. It doesn’t cover up the wrist. The length of the cloak goes a bit below the waist line. The cloak has some bunched up fabric where the hood is at the top on the left side. Belt and items: Worn dark brown leather ring belt. The ring is silver and flat on the left side. The belt is looped through the ring, from right to left, then is looped behind the belt. Going from bottom to top, then is looped back through the ring, going from left to right, and then looped top top to bottom with a (part of the belt hanging loosely on the right side.) ← that’s the important part. There are two short sword sheaths, one on the middle of each hip. Both are made of dark brown leather, the top is made of darko oak with blood red groves in the wood. The left side has a sword in it and the right side does not. (The items mentioned next are in order giong away from the sheaths.) Left side: Large brown leather money pouch, containing coin pieces. Next to that pouch, is a brown leather pouch for herbs. Right side: A dark green leather rectangle box that has a top flap that is buckled with a silver square buckle on the front center. A birch arrow with a glass head filled with acid, and all black fletchings is next to that. The arrow head is a bit above the belt, and the fletchings below. Bow and Swords: Bow is weatherd, she does not take care of it. Bow is made of dark oak with blood red groves in the wood. The string is midnight black. There is white cloth tied a bit below of the middle of the wooden part of the bow. Swords: Polished iron short swords. Although, some of the paint is chipped in different places. The sword’s blades are midnight black, with a dark green vine that twists around the blade. (Outside of some chipped paint, and the colors of the vine and the rose. The sword is all midnight black.) The vine has dark brown thorns sporadically placed. The vine twists it’s way up the sword. The vine starts from the center of the blade at the bottom and curves to the right. Ends at the center of the blade. Curving up straight again. The top is a blood red rose at the tip with petals. This covers the whole tip. The grip, guard, and pummel are polished iron. The grip is warped with a strip of black cloth, there are gaps in between the strips. The cloth is knotted at the end around the pummel and is over lapped. The grip is round. The grip starts an incline inward towards the pummel a bit before the pummel. The guard is a line of iron that ends in a slant. The pummel is a ball. There is a black dot in the center of each side of the ball with a dark green dot in the center of that. Also, the sword has that indent in the middle, like a lot of blades. Head area: Half elf ears. (Somewhat pointed.) Hair does not cover the ears. Hair is clean. Hair in front and a bit behind of the ears and the bangs goes to about the shoulders. A bit above the shoulder armor plates. Hair behind the ears goes down further, to about the shoulder blades. Is uneven. The forehead hair on the right side is a bit above the eyebrows at an uneven length. The hair on the left goes to about the bridge of the nose, yet is tucked behind the left ear. Perky nose. Scar on the left eye, a bit below the eyebrow and there is a deeper scar on the left cheek. Aligned with the scar on the eyelid. Dark green eyes. (The eyes are bright with a slight hint of mischief.) Thin lips. The right side of her lip is curved up in a pointed smile, while the left side of the lip is straight. (A mischievous half smile) A war-hammer burn mark on her forehead. The handle point is right at the bridge of the nose, and goes to the middle of the forehead. The hammer section on the left, and the pointy end on the right. The handle has a cloth warping around it. There is a circle that goes around the burn mark. The circle isn’t complete due to the eye sockets. (There is a story with this burn mark. Short story, a Cleric player used his holy medalin as a way to dispel an evil water spirit.) Right and left arm: Right arm is relaxed and dangling. Lazely holding a barebow longbow. The relaxed hold is on the wood, a bit above the bow's center. The string is first, the wood part of the bow is second. (See stance picture for a reference.) the front tip is pointing slightly up, at a slant. The back tip is on the ground. There is a new brown leather glove on the hand. Left arm: The left forearm has a simple and worn brown leather guard. There is also a design of squares crossing each other on the inner side and the outer side is laced together. The upper arm goes away from the body at a downward angle. The lower arm angels inward, while going away from the body. Her hand is in front of the upper left half of the stomach. The hand is angled downward a bit. So the sword is at an angle that would go past the right shoulder. The wrist angles inward a bit. So the back of the hand is facing forward. She has a grip on the short sword. The grip is right above the pummel. There is an old dark brown leather glove, with the Aylleth insignia in gold, it points towards the knuckles. The right guard is going over the middle of the front finger bones. The left goes right over the thumb. The sword is at an angle going from the grip to a bit past the right shoulder. Tunic, archer’s protective piece, pants, and boots: Old and well worn dark green tunic, with the sleeves going a bit before the wrists. There is a small, leather, archer’s chest protector on the right side, the color is heather dark grey. Weathered dark brown trousers that go over the boots and about the ankles. (Boots are on the next page.) The boots: This is more around the original visual. I messed up a lot on the first commission in many ways. Hopefully this is better. There is no hurry, if you take this, you have all the time.

I am planning a D and D 5e campaign that will last at least during this summer. it would start in two weeks time with a session zero probably some time next week. It would be organized afternoon/early evening GMT (it would last 3-4 hours starting times aren't set) and would be theater of the mind based on Discord (a chat platform, like Skype, but better). Would anybody here be interested in such a session? If yes PM me/comment in the forum saying you would. If you have any questions I'll be sure to answer, please post them in the comments so all can see the answer. (I hope this was a correct use of this group, it seems to me to be in the spirit of the group.)

This is funny 'cause it's true - especially the part about "Chaotic Good" (srsly, give it a rest)    http://io9.com/5965146/the-best-dungeons--dragons-character-alignments
It may be strange, but we have just 3 players, so I (the DM) am controlling 3 players. My brother is controlling 3 players (if you count his wizards pet monkey), and the other guy controls 1 player. I was just wandering if anybody else does the same.
Hi guys, this forum is for you to tell tales of your adventures or those where you DM'd. I'm going to tell you the tale of two characters, Logan and Nodulus, played by my best friend Neil back in the 80s. We used to play D&D until late every night after work and often all night. The thing about good D&D and good DM’ing is setting the mood; we’d usually play in candlelight, stoned and with some bloody good music in the background, nothing too intrusive but something to suit the mood. Logan started out as male human chaotic neutral fighter and Nodulus was a male human chaotic neutral cleric of Uller. If my mind serves me correctly they were around 7th level when they started the adventure. They uncovered a document that gave details of an ancient temple dedicated to the Egyptian deity Set. The document described the temple as having a treasure hoard that was legendary at the time but the temple had since been lost in the passage of time. The pair consulted various sages, priests, etc and discovered that the temple could be summoned to appear if they performed an ancient ritual in the Desert of the Lost City. The ritual involved obtaining a sacrificial dagger, chalice and the sacrifice of a virgin of royal blood. Whilst searching for these items Logan met a beautiful woman and after a night of wild sex she revealed herself as Glasya, the daughter of Asmodeus. She said that she would aid the pair in their quest as long as they retrieved someting for her from the treasure chamber. They agreed (Nodulus somewhat reluctantly) and she revealed the whereabouts of the dagger and chalice. We played this around 25 -30 years ago so I can’t remember all the details but I have a feeling that they were being held in a secure location in some lawful good temple which Glasya could not enter.   During the adventure Glasya visited Logan many times at night, making wild love to him. I think it was at this stage his alignment began to sway away from CN.   I also remember that they had quite an epic encounter with an efreeti. They battled this efreeti many times, he’d enlarge himself and fight with giant strength and when he was close to death he’d turn invisible and assume gaseous form and escape them. They eventually managed to rid themselves of him but it was hard work. They found out that the local Sultan’s daughter was travelling in a small caravan to a famous oasis whose waters were famed for providing great beauty to those who drink from it. They joined the caravan as mercenaries offering to help guard the princess but late one night whilst deep in the desert they killed her guards and retainers and fled the scene with the hapless maiden. They travelled the desert to the location indicated from their earlier investigations and, after being joined by Glasya, they waited for the full moon to rise. I can remember this session really well as it was late evening and the only light we were using was candlelight which was flickering away. The whole thing happened in a large bowl shaped depression in the desert. In the centre of the depression was an ancient altar, stained with blood from countless victims. Fires were lit around the altar and Logan and Nodulus began to chant whilst Glasya performed the ritual. The princess was stripped and tied to the altar, and Glasya cut her slowly across the belly drawing blood which dripped into the chalice. A flash occurred and around the altar there appeared an assortment of infernal creatures, devils from the depths of hell. They began to dance rhythmically whilst the chanting grew louder. Another cut across the princess’s breast and more blood dripped into the chalice. Flash, bang and the sky erupted with thunder and lightning. Bolts came crashing to ground outside of the depression, causing Nodulus and Logan to be deafened. Still they carried on chanting but now their voices were lost in a sea of voices being issued from the devilish horde about them. Another cut and now the creatures were moving faster and chanting louder than ever, all became madness as the satanic symphony reached a crescendo. Then a scream of agony split the air as Glasya plunged the blade into the princess’s chest and a bolt of lightning struck the ground by the altar opening a gaping chasm from which fire belched forth. The princess’s back arched as Glasya ripped out her still beating heart and held it high before plunging it into the chalice whilst chanting an infernal plea (in an terrible inhuman voice), beseeching the god Set to reveal the lost temple. The princess slumped back on the altar; her eyes wide open as her soul plunged into a gaping chasm, horror and madness gripping her as she understood the terrible fate that was to become her. Glasya and the devilish horde followed into the chasm which snapped shut loudly and abruptly all fell quiet.  At this stage I looked at Neil and he looked as though he was in shock from the events that had just happened. Just the effect I had hoped for! His characters looked about them as the darkness lifted and they began to feel the ground shaking beneath their feet. They quickly scrambled out of the depression and ran to safety. As they took stock of what was happening the ground, in the not too far distance, began to heave and a massive eruption of sand billowed out as the Temple of Set rose from the desert. The temple itself was a huge structure, made of sandstone and with steps leading up to a large terrace which had many ornately carved columns on either side. The entrance to the building was through a pair of huge ebony doors, which opened surprisingly easily. Unfortunately I have lost the floor plan for the Temple of Set but I still have the original room descriptions and wandering monster tables. The dungeon descended 3 levels below the main temple. I will reveal more of their adventure when I get some time.

Hey all! I am working on a submission for The Tankard, an OSR magazine that is just getting started. My submission is going to be a list of 300 fantasy, modern, and sci-fi NPCs. If anyone has any partial or complete NPCs I could use, it would be much appreciated. It is a free magazine, and all submissions are uncompensated. I will include the names of whomever helps out on the submission. Thanks!

Hello I am a relatively new D and D player. I am DMing online campaigns and would like to find a free online D and D platform so I could set up the playing field and that other players could see the set up. Something like roll20 but I am fine with less functionalities but free. I want to be able to set up a board and have dots I can move to represents each players and it to be available for all to see. Basically a grid with dots that people can look at live for free (them being able to edit it would be and added bonus).
