how about a game where pawns cannot promote but just stay on the 8th rank
I came up with a new idea
Starting position:
Things to remember:
Position after move 2:
You can put the king anywhere, but not other pieces, they need to be in any rank behind one that a pawn is occupying.
how about a game where pawns cannot promote but just stay on the 8th rank
That is an interesting idea...
Among Us Chess
there are a few pieces which are impostors if you capture the other side's impostor pieces you win
there are also 8 kings check is non existent so you can let your opponent capture a king if you capture all your opponents kings you win
there will be one last person
the arbiter he have each person choose their impostor pieces and private message him and then once the game starts if an impostor piece was captured the arbiter will say an impostor piece has been captured x number of impostors remain [depending on how any were left]
the arbiter will also declare if a king is captured
this game will be timed
about 5 days per side online in person 30 min with 10 sec increment
thats pretty good
variant name: the powerful knight
position begins like this:
pawns can not move 2 squares. only pawns and other knights can capture a knight. 4 ways to win: campmate, checkmate, resignation, or flagging. 2 ways to draw: repetition and agreement
I have heard of this one before:
Grasshopper chess. Grasshoppers move by jumping over one piece of any color, and that piece isn’t affected at all. The grasshoppers can only jump over pieces. They start one rank before the pawns, on the second rank. The pawns are on the third rank and thus have no double-move option. Pawns can promote to grasshopper too. When a king is in check by a grasshopper, the piece that the grasshopper is jumping over can just move out of the way.
Hello! Please use this thread to brainstorm ideas for new variants, you have all been coming up with many great new variants and I want you to give more ideas. It isn't like we will ever have these on chess.com, but we can always play them in forums.
