I forgot: I use HTC Hero. I just updated the app through Android Market, as I do with any other android app.
Thanks!
To help me help you, can you list the bugs you're experiencing and whether its live games or online games and i'll investigate them.
Sorry about this :(
Thanks kohai,
These are the main bugs I have found recently:
- In Online Chess, after leaving Analysis Mode the board is displayed upside down (black on top, while me playing black). This happens always, I think.
- When entering Online Chess, while loading current games, error message is displayed and app needs to close. This happens occasionally and, when it happens the app needs to be killed (with an app manager) and the app restarted to get rid of the problem.
- When creating a new challenge in Live Chess, the same as above (forced close) happened once or twice, I think (but I do not use the feature too often, so I can not be more precise at this moment).
- When setting vacation, the text (on vacation/not on vacation) is not consistent; so after you set on vacation, you are not sure if you are on vacation or not by looking at the settings page.
Hope this helps. Thank you
Hi!
I lost my two games (only 7/8 moves):
1) I lost connection on my phone (sony-ericsson - android 1.6)
2) I make my move, but the time don't stop.
As another user said.. so many bugs...
I can add one bug to this list:
Previously the notifications about new moves worked fine (phone: LG Optimus 2x - android version 2.2.2). But with the newest chess.com app from market the notifications does not work. However, if I start the app and then manually see that there are some moves and then exit the app without moving in those games, then the notification appears - but by that time I already know there are some moves for me!
There are so many forum threads that list bugs with Android tablets/phones. None of them has any adequate followup to suggest whether the bugs were fixed.
I looked at the chess.com app on Google Play (May 2013), and there seem to be a lot of recent reviews that have issues.
Chess.com staff, any useful status on this? Workarounds? Does the site work (including Live Chess) in the android browser? any particular version? Any plans to fix???
Yes
http://www.chess.com/groups/home/chesscom-android-group
If you join the group above its about to get a lot more information posted in it.
New beta versions will be posted there so members can test, post in the group which bugs they find and where - then those will all be fixed before the app goes to MarketPlace (Google Play). It will also show a list of whats been fixed in each app. This should start happening within the next few days.
The app at the moment does have some issues with live chess which are being investigated. A release is due out shortly which should hopefully fix that.
This is a very old post so forgive me for posting on it now but i too have been experiencing problems with the chess.com app i make a move my clock stops after 5-10 seconds my opponent time increases sometimes upto 15 seconds in a 2-1 bullet match and because of this i have flagged in 17 moves.please help
Dear all,
I have been using Chess.com app for android for a year or two. I found some occasional bugs here and there, but the app was reasonably good.
I got the latest update via Android market a few days ago and tried the new Live chess feature. The feature is nice! but (a huge "but") the app is now full of bugs everywhere! And by "everywhere" I mean "not only in the live chess feature".
Forced closes (almost every time I open the app!), wrong displaying of the board (normally after analysis board is closed), and other minor bugs I can not list...
Although I assume a lot of effort is being done to make this app, I think that bugs need to be fixed as soon as possible. At this moment, I think the app is not decent enough to be published in the market (it feels like no more than a Beta release) and misrepresents average Chess.com seriousness level.
Good luck everybody!
