Live Tournaments - how to disable notifications in chat?

When I play live tournaments, it can be quite distracting and somewhat annoying when I see announcements that titled players are streaming on Twitch.

I do like to watch these events and appreciate the notifications, but not when I'm playing in a live tournament.

In my settings, I have "event announcements" set to off in game chat (screenshot below).  I thought this would mean that I would not receive these notifications in live chat?  Maybe I'm mistaken.

STAFF:

I could be mistaken, but selecting the option I did in my settings, should essentially stop those notifications from happening in game chat at all.  So not sure if this is a bug or not?

hover over that chat and click collapse you wont see any of that

@rcu21  Can you send a screenshot of what you mean?  I don't have the option of collapsing the notifications.  I just tried.

just hover over that and then click the down arrow that says collapse

@rcu21  I wasn't expecting such a fast response to my question.  I'm pleasantly surprised I was able to get it resolved so quickly!

I am going to talk to the product team about if we should still show /announcements if you have event announcements turned off.

@jdcannon  Thanks for looking into this for me.  I initially had chosen the selection to have announcements only "turned off in game chat".  However, it seems that option doesn't work because I was still getting notifications while trying to play a Bullet tournament in live chess.  I found it quite distracting and slightly annoying.

I like to receive notifications, as it helps to see what's going on throughout the site.  And I have watched GMs play live on Twitch.  I just rather not receive these notifications when I'm busy playing in a tournament.
